Mandarin richness: great taste, healthy properties, tangerine compote

Doctors around the world strongly recommend that we eat as much fruit as possible. Thanks to the vitamins contained in them, the human immune system works more actively, stresses and depressions are bypassed, and performance is improved. And this is only the smallest of the list of useful properties of fruits.

The store shelves are filled with a variety of fruits, apples, pears, oranges, kiwi, pomelo, pineapples, tangerines and many others are available for sale. Fruits can be eaten ready-made, or you can use them to cook incredibly delicious dishes, whether it is a fruit salad, yogurt, cake, jam or, for example, compote.

This article will focus on citrus, which all children simply adore. And this is not surprising, because this particular fruit is associated with the most favorite holiday - New Year. The hero of this article is Mandarin.

The younger brother of an orange, mandarin is in no way inferior to its older brother. The presence of potassium, magnesium, vitamins C, A, P, K B1, folic acid, and beta-carotinic acid in the mandarin makes it one of the most useful fruits. Medicine highly values โ€‹โ€‹the usefulness of mandarins. Judge for yourself: they are able to increase appetite, cleanse bronchus and lungs of mucus, fight the manifestations of toxicosis in pregnant women, fight fatty deposits, and so on. Moreover, not only the soft part of the mandarin is useful, but also the peel itself. The essential oils contained in it, flavonoids, organic acids contribute to the improvement of the stomach. In addition, mandarin can be safely used for cosmetic purposes.

For us, mandarin has long been not something supernatural, in almost any store you can buy this wonderful fruit. And even if it is not only very tasty, but also very useful, it is a sin not to take advantage of its advantages.

I must say that our women have long been using tangerines to create real culinary masterpieces. They perfectly combine tangerines with vegetables, with meat, fish - and, really, it's incredibly tasty! What they just donโ€™t make from tangerines: jam, jelly, decoction, fruit salad, candied candies. But, perhaps, one of the most delicious mandarin-based dishes is tangerine compote.

Such a compote is prepared quickly enough and does not require special culinary skills. To make a compote of tangerines, you will need the following ingredients: water (2 liters), sugar (300 grams) and, of course, tangerines (500 grams).

We take tangerines, clean them, carefully freeing them from white veins, divide them into segments. Pour the peel of two tangerines with boiling water, then finely chop. Slices of tangerines spread in a pan, pre-fill the water there. After adding sugar syrup, bring to a boil. Ten minutes after the moment of boiling, remove the pan from the heat. It remains to cool and strain. Tangerine compote is ready. The drink is very tasty. Once cooked, mandarin oranges compote will become a regular in your breakfasts or dinners.

As already mentioned, not only tangerine pulp is useful, but also the peel. So you should not throw it away. Itโ€™s better to cook something tasty. You can cook, for example, candied fruit or stewed fruit, which is called a stewed tangerine peel. This drink, by the way, retains an amazing mandarin aroma and a huge amount of vitamins.

Washed tangerines (70 grams) peel, divide into segments. Scratch the zest (2 grams) with boiling water to remove the bitterness, and cut into strips. We cook sugar syrup (from 40 grams of sugar and 150 grams of water), at the very end adding tangerine zest. Remove from heat and cool. Beautifully spread the tangerine segments in the container and pour the cooled syrup with zest.

As you can see, tangerines are not only a tasty and healthy fruit, it is also a universal gastronomic basis for a large number of amazing dishes.
