There are such pests, the fight against which is like a protracted war. It’s not so easy to etch tiny insects belonging to the Koktsida suborder. Adult individuals build on themselves the likeness of a durable shell, which reliably shelters them from the effects of various toxic substances. But this does not mean that it is necessary to surrender your position to the enemy. Let's better understand how to deal with scale insects using any methods accumulated by gardeners.
The easiest way, of course, is to capture the moment of settlement on your favorites of young, still mobile, insects. True, it is much more difficult to notice them than the same worms that are related to our coccids. Worms are at least easily recognizable by white “cotton wool”, and the sweet, sticky coating that the scabies leave behind indicates that the individuals have already fixed themselves on the green bridgehead.
But is the adult scale insect invulnerable? How to deal with her?
There are insecticides that have proven themselves well against this pest. For example, the drug "Actellik". The smell is not pleasant, but it belongs to the category of low toxic poisons, therefore it can (with caution) be used indoors. Also against coccidi use "Ragor", "Aktara" or "BI-58". The latter can in no case be used in an apartment. This is extremely dangerous! This advice is true for Karbofos, but you can only work with it outdoors.
Therefore, we can do without fanaticism and try the “lighter” remedies that the scale shield is afraid of. How to deal with it in folk ways? The most effective method is prevention. When caring for plants, always carefully examine the leaves and trunks, and just notice something resembling brown or greenish scales, immediately grab a soap solution and thoroughly rinse uninvited settlers.
Laundry soap copes well with adult insects.
But not with a single soap, the sunken scabbard on a lemon is eliminated. How to deal with advanced cases with alcohol? We take it 60% solution, put on a cotton pad and begin to gently wipe the affected areas. But remember, even diluted alcohol is able to burn the plant, so the procedure must be carried out in the evening or in cloudy weather. The sun only hurts the cure.
Instead of an alcohol solution, you can use kerosene, it is extremely disliked by the scab. How to fight with it? As in the first case: we moisten the cotton wool in kerosene and wipe the plant with it.
Sometimes periodic spraying with strong infusion of tobacco and shag is helpful. Young insects die after processing the plant with an aqueous solution of transformer oil.
Tear off the leaves on which the scab has settled. How to deal with insects mechanically? Yes, it’s very simple - we gently scrape the “scales” from the plant.
Do not forget to isolate the sick pet from the rest of your green spaces, otherwise they will soon be occupied by the pest. It does not hurt to strengthen vigilance, carefully inspect your plants. Arrange for them to take a weekly shower, moisten the air tirelessly (especially in winter), do not let dust accumulate on the leaves. Thus, you will create unbearable living conditions for coccidus.
