Cocktail "Pinot Colada"

It is difficult to imagine a modern bar that would not offer such a cocktail as “Pinot Colada”. This is a delicious drink containing pineapple and coconut, which can be both alcoholic (in this case, rum is one of the ingredients) and non-alcoholic. Let's consider in more detail how to cook it at home.

Pina Colada cocktail (composition): three hundred grams of ice in pieces (cubes), juice from a quarter of lime, two hundred grams of pineapple juice, three tablespoons of coconut milk, three tablespoons of sugar syrup, forty grams of light and twenty grams of dark rum, cocktail cherry and slice of pineapple for decoration.

Glasses for this drink should be four hundred milliliters and have a curved shape, you will also need a tube and a shaker.

First, one hundred grams of ice is poured into the shaker and only then the remaining components are added, they are closed with a lid and they begin to shake vigorously to not only mix all the ingredients, but also to whip them a bit (coconut will give a white foam). Then you need to try the drink and add to the taste of rum, lime juice or sugar syrup, pour into wine glasses, pre-filled with pieces of ice.

It must be said that coconut milk for the preparation of the Pinot Colada cocktail is sometimes replaced with coconut syrup, which can be purchased at almost any supermarket. Usually the syrup already contains sugar, so adding it to the drink no longer makes sense. However, coconut syrup will require slightly more than coconut milk.

Sugar before adding to the cocktail is recommended to be diluted with water, while you can use it any: white, brown or a mixture of one or the other, it all depends on taste preferences.

Pineapple juice must be used fresh, just squeezed. But if this is not possible, you can pick up natural juice from the bag or mix it with pineapple puree. In the latter case, “Pinot Colada” will turn out to be somewhat thicker and more aromatic.

Rum for cocktail is added to taste, and lime juice can not be used, although it gives a unique coniferous smell. In any case, it all depends on the pineapple juice and the sweetness of the drink. Therefore, lime (in some cases lemon) is often added at the very end, when the cocktail is tasted for sweetness.

A decoration for such a drink as Pinot Colada, the composition of which is already known to us, is a slice of pineapple in a peel and a cocktail cherry. In many bars, whipped cream is placed on top of the glass.

The most beautiful is a drink made in pineapple or coconut. So, juice is drained from the latter, mixed with all the ingredients and poured back. And pouring a drink into a pineapple is a bit more difficult, since it is necessary to manually pick out the pulp.

"Pinot Colada" is considered the official cocktail of Puerto Rico and is very popular among the female population. There is debate about its origin to this day. Some claim that it originated in one of the country's restaurants, while others say that it came from the Caribbean. But be that as it may, the great taste of “Pinot Colada” is known almost all over the world.
