The history of this hospital is rooted in 1919. Mandryk Military Hospital was established at the field headquarters in the midst of the Civil War. Fifty patients, most of whom died of typhoid, accounted for only a few doctors. In November of that year, the military hospital was given the "name" - No. 396. The number of beds increased to two hundred beds. Already about twenty specialists from the organization "Red Cross" helped patients to their feet. Within two years, Mandryk's hospital is expanding rapidly. The work of doctors is streamlined thanks to the emergence of departments of surgery and gynecology, an X-ray room, laboratories, dressing rooms and operating rooms. For medical workers, a dormitory was built, which was nearby. In 1921, the hospital undergoes changes in terms of naming. Now this is the Fifth Moscow hospital of the headquarters of the Red Army. A little later there appears a sanatorium department, which is located in Bolshevo. Basically, the institution was intended for the commanding staff of the Red Army.

Pyotr Vasilyevich Mandryk, appointed head of the Department of Surgery, six months later, holds the position of assistant chief physician. A year later, he replaces him in this post. For twenty years, Peter Vasilievich put a lot of effort to make the center a high-class hospital. The principle of patient recovery was that the patient was observed and followed from a rehabilitation period to a full recovery. Of great importance was the attitude of the staff not only to human health, but also to their work.
