Still life in pencil: from a caveman to the present day

For the first time, the idea to display the world around us in a drawing came to a person’s mind no more, no less, 60 thousand years ago. Primitive art was distributed on almost all continents, with the exception of Antarctica, and has survived until our time among tribes living in the most remote corners of the planet.

Who knows what reasons served as a source of inspiration for a primitive man and he, taking a piece of coal in an inept hand, began to draw on the wall of his cave? These were not drawings drawn in pencil, they were simple geometric shapes and contours of animals. Perhaps the war paint of the body was the very first step to the work of our ancestors, and maybe the man, seeing his shadow, decided to transfer the drawing to the rock. Who knows ... Familiar outlines in stone could move the primitive sculptor to recreate from him the silhouette of an animal. You can build a lot of guesses, but one thing remains certain: the importance of the role of drawing and painting of primitive man in communicating with his own kind, as well as in transferring knowledge and skills to future generations.

In the spiritual development of mankind, the tools of creativity of primitive man and his desire for self-expression through drawing, played the same role as a pointed stone in labor activity.

Scientists disagreed about which of the primitive fine arts appeared before. Still life with a pencil, a person will begin to draw much later, and while he is practicing naturalistic painting on the walls of his home, and depicts geometric shapes and signs. Perhaps these two forms of art appeared simultaneously, because in addition to these means of expression, a person tried to use all the materials. So, one of the most ancient images dating from the early Paleolithic era is a human handprint made in clay. There were found many wavy lines and interlacing, perhaps an ancient person depicted what he saw before us, as we would draw a landscape with a pencil.

Since then, a lot of water has flowed, but the desire of a person to express his feelings, feelings, moods through graphics, painting, drawing, sculpture does not weaken. Almost all children from the youngest years are taught to hold a pencil in their hands, and the first scribbles of the baby are a still life with a pencil, a portrait of mom or dad, the familiar look of the animal.

A child is born with a desire to create, and even if no one tells him in detail how to learn to draw correctly, he will still continue his search in this direction. Since pencil drawing is the basis of everything, a child gifted with artistic talent, instinctively learns the correct possession of this subject for drawing. And now, from his hands appear the first more or less successful patterns of drawing. It can be a flower in a vase, an apple on a plate, a bird in a cage: in a word, a still life with a pencil.

The first children's drawings are dear to the heart of parents, but if you plan to develop his abilities in a child, then they will start from the beginning in the art school. They will tell you what pencils are, offer to work with each of them, explain the difference in application, teach you how to draw the simplest geometric shapes, and now, when a child is able to draw a perfectly even circle without a compass, they will tell about the secrets and secrets of a real professional pencil drawing.

And although the first work of the student will be still very immature, imperfect, but it will be a real portrait or still life with a pencil, drawn in accordance with all the rules of fine art, taking into account all the properties of the materials used (paper and pencil), in compliance with all laws of perspective.
