Imagine the mistress of a housewife when she discovers that there are midges in the kitchen! In her kitchen, which should be the standard of cleanliness, beauty and comfort! And now these small creatures swarm there, soundlessly hinting that she had overlooked something somewhere, had lost sight of.
These cats are, in principle, harmless. These are the same Drosophila, to whom such a serious science as genetics owes a great deal. Moreover, they were the first of the living creatures to make a suborbital space flight! But what of the mistress of that? After all, she is not a genetic scientist, and her apartment or house is not a scientific laboratory. Therefore, it is urgently necessary to find means and methods of how to destroy midges in the kitchen.
First of all, it is necessary to arrange a literal general search on it for the search for rotting plant debris. Eating them, midges reproduce at a truly furious pace (which is why geneticists have fallen in love). Explore:
- Stocks of vegetables and fruits that have been in storage for a long time. Fruits with damage must be βfixedβ or discarded.
- Open bags in which cereals, nuts, seasonings are stored. If their contents deteriorate, such a product is sent to the trash.
- Jars of stewed fruit and jam. They must be tightly closed.
- The presence of stagnant water. An abandoned glass, a kitchen sink, a pet drinker, a pan of a flower pot are the places where water turns into a nursery of midges and where they come in hundreds every day. The drinker must be temporarily moved to a room where there are no products. Everything else is empty.
- Bin. It should be carried out regularly and tightly closed with a lid.
- Garbage grinder (if any). To clean it, use ice cubes and lemon zest. You can also use ammonia (240 ml): pour in, wait an hour, rinse well.
Moths in the kitchen are very fond of breeding in the roots of indoor flowers, if any. And if the suspicions are confirmed, the destruction operation should begin.
- Be sure to reduce the watering of flowers. The absence of a moist environment prevents the accelerated reproduction of midges.
- Prepare a weak solution of potassium permanganate and process all the flower pots with it.
- Insert a few matches into the ground where the flowers grow with a sulfur head. This folk remedy helps well.
After these measures, the source of reproduction of parasites should, in principle, be eliminated. The time has come when the midges in the kitchen, arrogantly flying through it, must be irretrievably destroyed.
The first method can be called absolutely harmless, but slowly acting. Prepare special traps for midges. Take a sheet of paper, make a funnel out of it, cut its sharp end. At the bottom of the glass jar, put the bait in the form of a small piece of dried fruit or a small amount of fruit juice. After that, insert the funnel with the cut-off end into the jar.
Another trap is a disposable plastic cup with a wet tea bag or piece of fruit. The top of the cup should be tightened with cling film with a few small holes.
Both traps are placed where you most often noticed midges in the kitchen.
The second method allows you to get rid of midges quickly, but is associated with a "chemical attack." Using insecticides, you need to process not only the kitchen, but also other rooms. After that, it will not be possible for people or pets to be in the apartment for several hours. The destruction of insects ends with a thorough wet cleaning and airing.
After all these activities, midges in the kitchen will never appear again. Unless, of course, you yourself βinviteβ them to a meal, leaving an unfinished juice or an unfinished apple on the kitchen table ...
