Obsessive-compulsive disorder.

In the modern world, with its rapid variability and the presence of a huge amount of information, the human body is not always able to exist mentally normal. As a result, cases of inadequate assessment of events, depression and other mental disorders and its disorders are not uncommon.

One type of mental disorder is obsessive-compulsive disorder. This mental disorder is manifested by obsessive actions and thoughts. Abscesses are obsessive thoughts, and actions arising under their influence are nothing but compulsions. Images, ideas and drives, in the form of stereotypes repeated in the mind many times.

One way or another, such obsessions (as if the patient did not resist) lead to a response - action (compulsions).

How to understand when actions turn into compulsions? These are actions performed as a stereotype that do not carry a semantic load. Even the patient himself often notes their meaninglessness or tries to argue that these actions prevent or cause any events. Objectively, it becomes clear that these actions are not related to current events. Often, obsessive-compulsive disorder manifests itself in the form of a ritual.

Often with this type of mental disorder, changes are observed from the autonomic nervous system, while a feeling of heaviness and anxiety in the soul develops for no apparent reason. Sometimes obsessive-compulsive disorder is accompanied by depressive disorder. Such a relationship is characterized by a directly proportional dependence, that is, the larger one, the stronger the manifestation of the second.

In general, obsessive-compulsive disorder can be divided into several options, depending on the predominance of obsessive actions (compulsions) or obsessive thoughts (obsessions).

Mixed forms stand out as a separate group, in which compulsive behavior and obsessive thoughts are manifested practically equally.

This disorder most often develops as a result of exposure to various psychogenic factors. So, a high level of anxiety, excitement or aggression leads to the formation of this disease.

Examples of compulsive actions can be: obsessive doubts (whether the light is off, whether the door is closed, whether the iron and others are turned off), obsessive fears (which lead to a person being afraid to leave the house, ride in the elevator and others).

For such a mental disorder as obsessive-compulsive disorder, the treatment consists not only in the use of pharmaceuticals, but also in psychoanalysis, as well as in severe cases - electroconvulsive therapy.

Treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder involves the use of drugs from the group of antidepressants, as well as antiepileptic drugs (such as carbamazepine).

Previously used drugs of other groups after the introduction of the concept of "evidence-based medicine" have shown their inefficiency in the treatment of this type of pathology. As a result, the use of these drugs could be considered inappropriate. The best result was shown by the above two groups of drugs - antiepileptic and antidepressant drugs. The latter, in addition, are a kind of prevention of the development of depressive states.

Thus, mental disorder is a very common pathology, with varying degrees of severity of compulsions and obsessions. The treatment of this type of mental illness at the initial stages gives hope for a favorable outcome, but in the case of a prolonged absence of therapy, it is possible to aggravate the mental state and develop a depressive state, the treatment of which is somewhat more difficult and lengthy.
