Cherry diseases and their treatment
Rust
This is a fungal disease that other fruit trees can infect. The foliage is affected, on the outside it is covered with brown spots. A serious fight is needed here. Fungal diseases of the cherry will have to be fought against fundamentally. In autumn and in the hot season, the affected foliage must be burned. Before the tree blooms, and after the beginning of flowering, copper sulfate is used (10 g of water - 40 g of vitriol).
In specialized stores, the antifungal drug Hom is sold. It can also be used for a quality fight against fungus. To process a large tree, three liters of the product are enough.
The control of cherry diseases is carried out when the crop is already harvested. Take 1% Bordeaux fluid. Caution is needed here, otherwise you can burn the foliage.
Fruit rot
Cherry diseases and their treatment require certain knowledge. This disease is also provoked by a fungus and affects fruit trees. However, it can only be seen on the pulp of the fruit. A small rotting spot appears on the berry, gradually it spreads on the skin of the whole berry. You can treat the disease in the same way as with rust. Affected fruits must be collected and burned.
Vertical wilt
The fungus affects young trees, not older than 6 years. The disease is expressed in that they discard the foliage ahead of time, and the buds and flowers appear later and dry after flowering. But the worst thing is that the wood inside the tree also dries. A tree can die in three to four weeks.
These are serious cherry diseases, and their treatment will require effort. Firstly, between these trees you should not plant tomatoes, eggplant, physalis, pepper, strawberries. In early spring, before the leaves bloom, root dressing is performed with a potassium sulfate preparation (for 10 liters of water - three tablespoons of the drug). Up to three buckets of “medicine” will be required per tree. Toward the end of April, on rainy days, fertilizer is scattered dry.
How to deal with cherry diseases? For this, wood ash has been used successfully. Half a kilogram is taken on one tree both in raw and in dry form. In spring and summer, young growth is treated with copper sulfate (10 g - 40 g). Each tree will require two liters of solution.
Cytosporosis
The fungus affects fruit trees so much that they dry out with the beginning of spring, before blooming or during flowering. Dark spots and cracks appear on the bark, foliage twists, dries and falls. On branches and stub wounds with gum detachment are observed. Fungal infections are serious diseases of the cherry, and their treatment requires patience. In autumn, the stems and the base of the branches will have to be whitened with ordinary whitewash, before the leaves bloom - treated with copper sulfate (10 l - 50 g) or use the drug "Oksikhom" (10 l - 20 g of the drug).
