Menopause What it is?

If it comes to such an inevitable phenomenon as menopause, most immediately recall the notorious female problems associated with worsening character, irritability and other โ€œcharmsโ€. But it turns out that men suffer from hormonal changes no less than their girlfriends, and there is a completely objective phenomenon, which is called the menopause.

This phenomenon has a logical explanation, because with age the activity of the sex glands fades, although men, unlike women, retain the opportunity to have offspring to a very old age. Representatives of the stronger sex rarely focus on the signs that appear or are embarrassed to consult a doctor with such problems. And it is completely in vain, because the menopause is masculine, as well as feminine, the phenomenon is not too pleasant and can affect well-being.

So, what is male menopause? This is a condition of the body, which is manifested by a decrease in the production of free testosterone, an increase in the level of estrogens and globulins, that is, a violation of the normal androgen-estrogen balance.

Male menopause can begin at a fairly early age (about 40 years), but more often such changes occur around 50-60 years. Distinguish also physiological and pathological menopause . In the first case, changes in the body occur as a result of the natural process of aging and the extinction of sexual function. In the second, the onset of menopause causes various diseases. These can be various inflammatory diseases of the genital area, including infectious nature, diseases associated with circulatory disorders or the appearance of tumors. Factors such as radiation exposure, exposure to toxic substances, as well as alcohol abuse and smoking have an effect on menopause.

How does menopause appear ? It should be noted that the symptoms of female and male menopause are largely the same, although in men, as a rule, clinical manifestations increase gradually. Violations can be observed on the part of the cardiovascular system (heart palpitations, shortness of breath, the appearance of aching pain in the heart, increased blood pressure). From the genitourinary system, the development of an adenoma or an exacerbation of a chronic inflammatory process is often observed. Sexual function gradually fades, which is expressed in a decrease in craving, sexual intercourse becomes shorter in time, sperm release decreases, sensations during orgasm turn out to be โ€œerasedโ€.

At the same time, various disturbances in the functioning of the endocrine system are often observed, which can lead to the development of diabetes, obesity, gout and other diseases.

As in women, the manifestations of menopause in men are often accompanied by disorders of the psycho-emotional sphere. At this time, the man becomes irritable, excitable. He is often disturbed by disturbing thoughts, up to the development of depression. Sometimes there is a memory impairment, as well as a loss of interest in work, family and past hobbies.

Treatment of menopause, of course, is associated not with the elimination of the phenomenon as such, but with the removal of symptoms that cause a disturbance in well-being. The greatest success can be achieved by applying an integrated approach, subject to observation by several specialists. The first step in the treatment of menopause is the normalization of the regime of work, rest and nutrition. We must try to normalize physical activity and fight excess weight. When signs of anxiety appear, sedatives should be used , and the use of drugs that normalize the blood supply to the brain is often shown.

If menopause leads to severe depressive disorders, examination and treatment by a psychotherapist is necessary. With severe symptoms, hormone replacement therapy is prescribed, which will help alleviate negative manifestations. And to maintain sexual function, it is worth taking multivitamin complexes, as well as natural stimulants, for example, tincture of echinacea or lemongrass.
