Passion for the game
Dmitry Lesnoy was born in Tashkent in 1956. From early childhood, the boy fell in love with cards. He could watch for hours as his father and friends play preference. But more seriously, Dmitry became interested in this occupation when he was a student at Moscow State University (Department of Journalism). The young man preferred preference to seminars and lectures.
During his studies, Lesnoy participated in various inter-university tournaments. There Dmitry met with the best preferentists. He also played at the billiard academy. In the last Forest, he received his three nicknames: All-Union Katala, Gusarik and Dima of Tashkent. Passion for gambling prevented the young man from completing his studies. He was expelled in the fourth year for poor performance, although Dmitry received excellent for all the written works. So Forest University graduated only in 1980.
Soon the young man had a new hobby - hypnosis. For more than a year Dmitry traveled to Central Asia on tour. And then he began to make a living with card games. At Lesnoy there were falls and ups. Writing career
Having parted with his passion, Dmitry Lesnoy completely switched to another sphere. He began to write actively. For a while, the former player worked for Roland Bykov as a press attaché. And after the legalization of gambling in the country, Lesnoy wrote the gambling house encyclopedia, the Russian Preference monograph, and several books from the series “Mathematics of Casino Games”. The latter includes more than ten editions. Among them: “Roulette”, “Poker”, “Blackjack” and others. But Dmitry was not limited to books alone. He wrote the program "Marriage", which allowed you to play preference with a computer. This brought him even greater popularity. Lesnoy also organized preference and poker tournaments at the Cosmos casino.
Since 2001, the hero of this story has become the publisher of a number of Russian poker magazines: Poker Games, Poker in Russia and Casino Games. In them, Dmitry introduced the reader to professional players and shared his knowledge.
Russian Poker Federation
Thanks to many years of experience and merit, Lesnoy received the position of President of the Poker Federation. All his activities were aimed at making this game a sport. This goal was achieved only after six months of active work. From 2007 to 2009, poker was an official sport in the Russian Federation. In 2008, another important event occurred: Russia became the founder of the International Poker Federation, uniting 55 countries. Until that moment Dmitry was a member of the IFP board.
