A middle school student now knows what sex is and how to “do it”. Television and the Internet provide such unlimited information on the topic that parents, in principle, like the school, at first glance, have nothing special to do in terms of explanations and educational work. And yet, I think that even adults might sometimes be wondering where that came from.
Why is the missionary position?
So what is
missionary and why is it called that? Visually, of course, she will be immediately presented by any person who is more or less knowledgeable in the intricacies of love. This is a classic sex when a woman lies on her back, legs spread, and a man is on top. The couple is facing each other. The position is used, as a rule, with heterosexual intimacy, but it is quite widespread among same-sex couples.
Where did the concept come from? What is the missionary position, they knew long before the advent of Christianity and, in fact, the missionaries themselves - shepherds who preach this religion among the Gentiles. Humanity began to copulate from the moment of its occurrence, otherwise it would simply not exist. And if at first primitive people in this process imitated animals, then later the culture and art of sex stepped far beyond the specified framework. With the development of social consciousness, however, the dominant role of men has become more and more rooted in society. And the position of “a woman from below” perfectly matched such an ideology. After all, what is a missionary position from an ideological point of view? She symbolizes the submission of the lady, her complete humility and dependence on a partner. He is above, above her, directs the whole process in accordance with his desires and needs.
If in paganism, in the cultures of Asia and the East, it was provided for both man and woman to receive satisfaction and joy from intercourse, then Christianity generally looked at sex as a kind of abomination, necessary only for procreation.
A woman was considered a vessel of sins, temptation, and filth. In the performance of
marital duty, she was ordered to lie like a doll, not moving, allowing the man to do what he wanted. There was no talk of her satisfaction: sex with his positive experiences existed only for the strong half of humanity. Because what is a missionary position, if not a vivid example of the prevailing role of a man over a woman in everything - in
intimate life, social, political, economic, spiritual? That is why priests taught the people that this position is the only possible and correct for a respectable Christian. However, they are not alone - the ancient Greeks and Romans, Indians, Chinese and representatives of other civilizations reasonably considered it precisely as the embodiment of the dominant position of a privileged strong masculine principle over a female subordinate.
The look of a new time
Fortunately, humanity has survived not only political revolutions, but also sexual ones. And the missionary position was no longer considered so conservative, but took its place among dozens of others, invented for variety and more complete enjoyment of intimacy. She is still actively practiced, because the position has many advantages, however, and also minuses. Pros:
- partners see each other's faces during a sexual game, which aggravates feelings and facilitates mutual understanding;
- they have the opportunity to caress each other's lips and tongue (kisses on the lips, face, neck, chest), which increases the degree of pleasure;
- a woman has the ability to hug, stroke, caress her partner (back, shoulders, arms, buttocks, scrotum), both can whisper to each other something exciting, encouraging;
- the pose allows you to have sex under the covers if the room is cool.
Cons of the position - a man holds the weight of his body in his arms, which means he quickly gets tired; limited male affection; weak stimulation of the main female erogenous zone; some other disadvantages associated with the structural features of the partners.
But the missionary position (photos are attached in the article) is practiced in several ways: a woman can throw her legs on her partner’s lower back, providing deeper penetration; under her lower back, you can put a small pillow or roller so that the pelvis is slightly raised (for the same purpose). If a woman lies on the edge of the surface, and the partner takes possession of her while standing, this makes the process easier for him and provides greater freedom of action in relation to the lady.
Afterword
No matter what poses you have sex in, remember the main law: in intimacy there is nothing forbidden, if only it would be pleasant for both. Freedom and creativity are important in any art, including the art of sex.
