The most expensive champagne. Who will win the high price competition?

For an ordinary person, as they say, the average, champagne is a symbol of the holiday. New Years, weddings or anniversaries rarely do without this golden, sparkling drink. Real connoisseurs and gourmets consider sparkling wine one of the main attributes of a chic life. How much do you think the most expensive champagne in the world can cost? Let's try to find out the exact numbers, and for this we recall some facts.

This summer, an unusual auction was held in Aland. Champagne bottles found in the Baltic Sea among the wreckage of a wreck a couple of years ago became lots in it. The "catch" of the Swedish scuba divers turned out to be quite rich: four bottles with beer and one hundred and forty-five with Juglar champagne. 79 bottles were found to be usable. The brand La Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Heidseick, better known as "Champagne Charlie", ceased to exist in the early nineteenth century. The cost of each bottle was estimated by the organizers at 100 thousand dollars. There are eleven such bottles left, the rest were sold at auction a year ago.

However, this is not the most expensive champagne in the history of trading. A 1907 Piper Heidsieck bottle was sold for $ 275,000.

The French brand Louis Vuitton Russian fashionistas are better known for the production of leather accessories. However, as it turned out, the Louis Vuitton brand is not limited to this. In 2008, at an auction in Hong Kong, champagne produced under this brand was sold. A drink in a vintage bottle of designer work cost the buyer 21 thousand dollars. Year of manufacture of champagne - 1928th.

Undoubtedly, when it comes to drinks, the age of which ranges from several tens to several hundred years, collectors are ready to shell out any money just to get a bottle of the “wonderful elixir” in their winery. But it turns out that expensive champagne is not necessarily a rarity. Think of Cristall or Dom Perignon, finally Armand de Brignac. However, this is far from the limit. The price record was broken by Pernod Ricard, which released in 2009 the most expensive champagne in a collection of a dozen bottles. Each of them costs about 4166 euros. The Perrier-Jouet Champagne Collection was released in a limited edition. It was planned to sell sparkling wine only in the USA, Japan, Great Britain, Russia and France.
The drink from Pernod Ricard received the honorary title "the most expensive champagne" and took pride of place in the list of similar products.

Now back to the classics. For a long time Dom Perignon held the palm of its value in production. At all times, this champagne was rightfully considered the most refined and aristocratic, as it was made from elite grape varieties harvested during the years of the best harvest. At New Year's auction, the most expensive Dom Perignon champagne was sold at a price of $ 40,000 for a three-liter bottle.

1990 Cristal Brut Champagne at Sotheby's New York Auction went under the hammer for $ 17,525. The wine was released in France, bottled in exclusive six-liter bottles, decorated with gilded labels. It should be noted that the cost of packaging significantly increased the price of the drink. However, Cristal is not the only manufacturer who relies on design. Than just do not decorate champagne bottles today. Diamonds, precious metals, expensive grades of crystal are used.

A curious fact - even during periods of deep economic crisis, wealthy buyers do not cease to be interested in expensive, refined wines. Apparently, the highest price for a bottle of champagne has not yet been announced and the competition among manufacturers continues. As long as the sparkling bubbles in the tall glass remain a symbol of the fact that life has taken place, the demand for this drink will not fall. Well, we can only marvel at the breadth of their scope.
