The Honda VFR 1200 model was created using the latest developments in the field of Japanese sports and tourist motor building. Preference was given to technologies taken from the "race track", with the prospect of practical application. The updated engine, equipped with unique units, put forward the Honda VFR 1200 model in first place in its class. The elastic, responsive V-4 engine is still unparalleled.
VFR 1200, the unrivaled flagship of sports tourism
The VFR series originated from the RVF750 and RS race cars. But for the first time, the V-4 engine was installed on a VF750 road bike, which was presented back in 1982 and combined a practical design with excellent technical characteristics. The VF750 was put into mass production in 1986 and immediately became the standard upon which all the sport-tourist models existing at that time were equal.
In 1998, the VFR 800 motorcycle debuted with the RC45 engine. In 2002, the “eight hundredth” was equipped with a modernized fuel injection system, which was recognized as the revolutionary new V-TEC injection device, with the possibility of changing the gas distribution phases.
And finally, by 2008, all the constructive achievements of the past had been collected and connected to modern technologies. So there was a unique VFR 1200.
Model versatility
By 2010, the Honda VFR 1200 motorcycle began to acquire some features of an SUV; long-stroke suspensions were installed on the bike. The seat and steering wheel are adjustable for direct landing and reliable control over the motorcycle. The car became multi-purpose, the parameters of a crossover-SUV were added to the sports and tourist image. Now the bike could move off a smooth asphalt road and follow in any direction over rough terrain.
In 2012, the motorcycle received a new transmission, which included two options: fully automatic gear shifting using a dual clutch, or changing gears manually using the push-button control located on the steering wheel. The automatic mode at the same time allowed the intervention of a motorcyclist, at any time it was possible to turn off the automation and switch to manual control in a split second.
This modification was also equipped with the Traction Control System, which was useful when driving on slippery roads. The TCS is guaranteed to cut off excess torque and leave exactly as much traction as required for optimal engine performance.
Also, ABS was installed on all VFR 1200 motorcycles, an anti-lock brake system, which allowed the bike to be used in any weather on any road.
The model has already acquired new characteristics, has become closer to the class of full-sized sports and tourist enduro. Now a motorcycle equipped with the legendary V-4 engine was capable of much. A powerful engine and the most advanced technologies gave the bike additional features.
