One of the priorities in equipping modern office premises is the issue of ensuring the safety of personnel. Not so long ago, separate rooms in public buildings were delimited by wooden structures. Currently, they are gradually being replaced by special fire walls. The latter are extremely attractive in appearance and can be performed in accordance with the characteristics of the interior.
Application
Firewalls are mounted in rooms that need to delimit space with structures that can prevent the spread of fire between individual rooms in case of fire. Sometimes, such flame suppression devices are installed at the transitions between floors and stairwells.
Firewalls open up great opportunities for a total, and most importantly, quick redevelopment of an object in accordance with generally accepted safety standards. The delimitation of space by such structures allows you to create separate working areas, organize storage and technical rooms.
What gives the installation of partitions?
With a proper location of the partition, fire fighting significantly reduce the speed of spread of an open flame. Specialized designs allow you to quickly localize a fire, which helps to eliminate it in the shortest possible time.
Firewalls installed in the room significantly reduce the damage that fire could cause if they were not available. In addition, the delineation of the premises by such structures reduces the overall level of smoke in the building. The latter factor allows for the safe evacuation of personnel without exposing people to the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning.
Installation requirements
In general premises, fire walls of classes EI15 and EI45, with a fire resistance of 15 minutes and 30 minutes, respectively, can often be seen.
The type and class of partitions are determined in each case by the requirements of fire safety standards that are put forward to the structure. Among the most significant factors that should be taken into account when selecting fireproof structures, it is worth highlighting the following:
- Indoor fire hazard level.
- Material of construction.
- The number of personnel resident inside.
- The purpose of the room.
- The method and intensity of operation of the facility.
One can still note quite a lot of such factors, since the general level of fire safety of structures is determined even by seemingly unimportant points such as the nature of the location of the equipment and the placement of staff desks.
Materials of manufacture
Currently, the following firewall options are available for installation:
- Glass - are in the highest demand in the market. They consist of a fire-resistant profile and transparent glass that can withstand the effects of an open flame for a certain time.
- Steel - are made using high-strength material with a maximum fire resistance. They are installed mainly in technical rooms. Can be used as cladding for walls and ceilings.
- Aluminum - are presented in the form of a refractory metal frame filled with gypsum contents. They are used equally often in the arrangement of industrial and office premises, since the design features allow you to quickly adjust to various interiors.
- Plasterboard - differ in budget cost and therefore are the most affordable refractory material. External cladding is presented in the form of a flameproof metal profile. Almost all types of firewalls from GKL have a small weight, which greatly simplifies the installation process.
Fire walls of the 1st type of fire resistance
The designs of this plan include EI45 level panels, which are designed for indoor installation with walls made of non-combustible building materials. The use of firewalls of the 1st type is allowed for the arrangement of facilities in which an impressive number of people and personnel are at the same time. First of all, it is educational institutions, office, warehouse.
The use of sufficiently strong materials of manufacture contributes to the use of such structures for the construction of ordinary walls, which should be sufficiently stable during hacking attempts.
A firewall of the 1st type of fire resistance is made of lightweight materials in the processing and installation of gypsum board, mineral fillers. As a rule, such panels are presented in the form of a frame sheathed with sheet materials with special impregnation with non-combustible substances. It is possible to fill the frame with heat-resistant double-glazed windows.
Firewalls of the 2nd type of fire resistance
For zoning the internal space of the premises, fire resistance level EI15 designs are often installed that can withstand the effects of an open flame for more than 15 minutes.
Refractory doors and windows, ventilation devices are easily integrated into type 2 partitions. Such designs allow you to quickly equip objects, change the existing layout according to personal needs in compliance with fire safety requirements.
