How to make cappuccino at home

Cappuccino is an original Italian drink that has gained worldwide fame. It is believed that the monks, Capuchins, who loved coffee with milk, came up with it. The name of the Capuchin Order, according to this version, gave the name of the drink.

According to another version, the name for this type of coffee was given by a cap of milk foam crowning a cup (translated from Italian cappuccino - cap, hood).

A well-made cappuccino is delicious. A fragrant, refined and delicate drink, topped with snow-white foam with a painted heart and served with cinnamon sticks on a saucer. On a summer evening, you can come to a cafe and have a cup, forgetting for a while about the hustle and bustle.

It is believed that only professionals know how to make a cappuccino “right”. But practice shows that with some training, even a mere mortal may well make a cappuccino at home. Not gods pots pots burn, as they say.

A detailed cappuccino recipe at home.

So what are we striving for. Cappuccino is a well-brewed coffee in which milk can be added. On top of the drink is decorated with lush milk foam, seasoned with cinnamon and sugar.

We will need:

  • ground coffee

  • cream

  • sugar

  • grated cinnamon

the presence of water, a stove (gas or electric), cezve and other utensils - it goes without saying.

A step-by-step description of making cappuccino at home.

First step . We make coffee. Pour coffee into a cezve (2 small spoons per coffee cup), fill with water and put on fire. At the same time, we don’t remove the hand from the cezve handle and we don’t take our eyes off future coffee.

As soon as the coffee foam has activated and moved to the exit of the cezve, we quickly remove all this from the fire. We wait until everything inside there calms down and settles in place, and again put the cezve on the fire.

And we do this several times. At least four. In this “speed” competition with foam, it’s important for us to prevent coffee from boiling. Having started to boil, it will become bitter, hopelessly spoiled, and this will mean that we failed to make cappuccino at home.

Step Two Beat the milk foam. This is a simple matter, but requiring skill, which, as you know, comes with experience. Whipping can be given only to fat milk or cream (fat content of at least 6%).

The proportion is approximately the following: 1 cup of coffee - one cup of cream. Pour the cream into a saucepan. For the first time, it is better to take cream for only one cup. And in general, cappuccino is a fun game, in a large volume it is not prepared.

Put the cream on the fire and wait ten seconds. Then we take the mixer and begin to whip them. Here it is important not to miss the moment of foam readiness. You can track it by the appearance of large bubbles on the surface of the cream. As soon as they appear, we focus and wait for them to disappear. How are they gone - the foam is ready, turn off the mixer.

Step Three Mix of coffee and foam. Pour coffee into a beautiful cup (or whatever). Then a tablespoon gently spread the foam on top of the coffee.

Fourth step - decoration. Pour sugar (a small spoon) and cinnamon on top of the foam. This is where we will find out for sure whether we got a cappuccino. We start with cinnamon. If the foam holds it, carefully add sugar. If sugar turns out to be her (foam) in strength, then we cappuccino turned out to be “right”.

If sugar falls through the foam, then the material needs to be fixed. Again we take coffee, cream and further on the prescription. And you can not worry, everything will start to work out very quickly.

There is another way to brew a cappuccino at home, though more expensive. To implement it, you need a domestic coffee machine, advanced enough to have this same cappuccino in its options. Then the process of making the drink will be simplified and will become familiar, like drinking tea for breakfast.

And then we will again be pulled into a cafe, where a cappuccino will be brought to us in a beautiful cup with cinnamon sticks on a saucer. And with a heart painted on foam.
