Nevertheless, this word is amazing - "whiskey". He sees brutal cowboys in the Marlboro style, scorched by the prairie sun, thick smoke of strong cigars ... Which drink can be considered more masculine than whiskey, and which whiskey can be considered more American than Jim Beam's whiskey? This is a brand, a symbol, and since 2007, by the decision of the US Senate, it has also been recognized as a national alcoholic beverage.
Now under the brand name "Jim Beam" comes out more than a dozen names of whiskey. How not to get confused, not to make a mistake and choose a drink to your taste? Let's take a closer look at the history of the brand and its main modern brands.
It all started back in 1788, when the energetic farmer Jacob Bim moved to Kentucky, built a mill on his estate and argued with his neighbors that corn whiskey tastes better than a traditional barley variety. No sooner said than done. The neighbors admitted that they were mistaken, and bourbon appeared - a drink named after Kentucky's Bourbon County. At the end of the 18th century, the home company for the production of this alcoholic beverage was founded, and in 1795 the first barrel of whiskey "Jim Beam" was officially sold.
Since then, the company was run exclusively by people from the Beam family - direct descendants of Jacob Beam.
This alcoholic drink is obtained with the obligatory use of corn and barley flour, and then kept for a long time in charred oak barrels. Thanks to this, sugar turns into caramel, and whiskey acquires a special recognizable flavor. After a few years, a blend is made - that is, the alcohols of different years are mixed and diluted with water. So different varieties of whiskey are obtained, reviews of which differ only in the degree of enthusiasm. Each label hides its own unique taste, and true connoisseurs of "Jim Beam" distinguish them with their eyes closed.
Jim Beam White whiskey (white label) is the most common variety in the product line. They make it according to the very first recipe that Jacob Bim developed. Fortress - 40 degrees, aging - 4 years, color - orange-amber, aroma - floral with light woody notes.
They also release "Jim Beam White" with a seven-year exposure. The label says "Premium Aged 7 Years Old".
Jim Beam Black (black label) is a six-year-old bourbon. Fortress - 43 degrees, color - dark amber, aroma - very saturated, floral-woody.
Jim Beam Black Domestic is also available with a black label, which is characterized by an eight-year exposure and a characteristic long finish with caramel notes.
"Jim Beam Red Stag" is a new product of the company, four-year-old whiskey with interesting natural flavors. The strength of the drink is 43 degrees, the smell is of classic bourbon with a hint of sweet cherry, the aftertaste is long, characteristically sweet.
Of the less common varieties can be called "Jim Beam Green" (green label) - five-year exposure, with a strength of 40 degrees, "Jim Beam Yellow" (yellow label) - an interesting type of rye whiskey, as well as low-alcohol "Cola" and "Ginger Ale" .
Whiskey "Jim Beam" exists in the collection series. These are gift options for true drink connoisseurs. For example, the "Booker's" variety, which is bottled directly from barrels, bypassing the blending and dilution stages. Moreover, for this variety they use alcohol exclusively from barrels standing in the center of the store, since there are the most favorable conditions for aging whiskey. The result is a unique eight-year-old drink with a strength of 63 degrees.
Another product from the collection series is Knob Greek, named after the estate Abram Lincoln lived on. A distinctive feature of this variety is a sweetish maple finish and a strength of 50 degrees.
This series also includes the spicy islet whiskey “Basil Hayden's” and the extremely soft “Baker's” variety.
Traditional varieties of Jim Beam whiskey are most often diluted with apple, cherry juice or Coca-Cola.
But a noble refined taste and a characteristic long aftertaste in its entirety are revealed only in pure undiluted bourbon with ice. Therefore, choose from a wide variety of varieties and enjoy!
