What could be tastier and healthier than a currant compote? All, of course, is an amateur, but there are still many fans of this drink. How to cook it? What ingredients, in addition to the currant itself, need to be added in order to make its taste simply unforgettable? Using the recipes below, you can cook the most unforgettable compotes, which, if you roll them under the lid, will decorate your table in the winter.
Redcurrant compote
Before proceeding with the list of necessary ingredients, I would like to say that red currant compote is very useful even if it contains a considerable amount of useful substances and vitamins necessary for normal functioning of the human body. Such a drink perfectly quenches thirst in the summer and pleases the eye with its bright color in winter.
For cooking you will need:
- 1 kg of currant (with sprigs);
- 0.5 liters of purified water;
- 0.25 kg of granulated sugar.
As you can see, the list of ingredients is minimal, but despite this, from them you can cook redcurrant compote with an unforgettable taste.
To begin, make the initial treatment of the berries themselves. As indicated in the list of ingredients, they are taken with the calculation of the weight of the twigs. Many people think that twigs must be torn off when brewing a drink - in fact, this is not at all true. Therefore, it will be enough for you to just wash the brushes well and put them in a pre-prepared dish - a pan will do.
To make compote, you will need syrup, which is now the time to cook. To do this, take water and sugar, mix these two ingredients and boil. After you remove it from the stove, immediately fill the currants and immediately cover the pan with a lid. Let the compote brew for several hours to make the taste more vivid, then drain and cool in the refrigerator.
From this ratio of ingredients, a very rich drink is obtained. Therefore, if you wish, you can take a little more water - everything is at your discretion. Alternatively, you can dilute it when consumed.
Blackcurrant compote
Blackcurrant is an equally useful berry. Therefore, sometimes it is worth preparing compote from it, if only in order to replenish your vitamin supply.
For cooking you will need:
- 200 g of blackcurrant berries;
- 3 tbsp. l Sahara;
- 2 liters of purified water
As you can see, the ingredients are almost the same as in the previous recipe: currants, sugar and water, but their quantity changes. In order to get a drink of the concentration you need, you can change the number of products.
Begin cooking with a wash of blackcurrant.
Now choose a pan that suits your size and fill it with water and place it on the stove. When the water boils, it's time to pour berries into it. You can do it another way: drop them in a colander. In any case, you need to hold a little currant in boiling water (for 3-4 minutes), and then get them out of there. So the option with a colander will be the most optimal.
So your compote will not be very concentrated. Therefore, there is another option: when the berries are in boiling water, they can be grated through a colander, and then remove the leftovers.
In any case, in the end, it all ends with the fact that sugar is added and the compote is removed from the stove and infused for some time under a closed lid.
Now you know how to cook compote from red currant and black. As you already understood, this is very easy and does not require large cash costs.
You can also brew a drink from other berries, especially since this is done very simply - according to the scheme for cooking compote from currant. You can try combining berries and adding other ingredients to them, for example, mint, which can give freshness to an already cooled drink.
