The foreskin of the male penis has a small area, which even in case of irritation quickly heals when not touched. But during intercourse or masturbation, redness of the foreskin occurs.
This is due to the fact that an erection is a stretching of the skin. Then rubbing and getting into this zone of sperm or female secretions causes irritation of the foreskin, leading to mild itching and redness. If you do not wait for the disappearance of this irritation and continue to rub the foreskin during sexual intercourse, then this condition progresses, leading to abrasion. However, if the penis is left alone, then the next day everything will begin to heal.
Redness of the foreskin in medicine is called balanoposthitis. The main reason for its occurrence is a neglect of the hygiene of the contents of the external genitalia, especially when exacerbated by phimosis (impossibility of exposure of the head of the penis).
Irritation of the foreskin varies in acute and chronic forms. The acute form, in turn, is divided into pustular-ulcerative, gangrenous, erosive and simple. The chronic form is inductive (when the foreskin of the penis shrinks) and ulcerative-hypertrophic.
Balanoposthitis is manifested by various symptoms, which are combined by three main groups.
1. Pain, redness and itching of the foreskin, burning, pain and other uncomfortable sensations in the area of ββthe head of the penis, causing inconvenience to the man. An increase in sensitivity of the head may also occur, resulting in premature ejaculation, leading to a decrease in the duration of sexual intercourse.
2. Redness of the foreskin, ulcers and fissures on it or the head, tubercles, dots, red spots, irritation and dryness, thinning of the mucosa (it becomes like parchment).
3. The presence of unnatural discharge. In a normal state, the secretion of the mucous membrane of the head is released. It is allocated in small portions and, following hygiene procedures, does not cause any problems. With a disease, the discharge becomes more intense and often forces the foreskin and head to be washed. Sometimes such secretions infiltrate underwear.
All men who notice redness of the foreskin should start with an increase in the number of hygiene procedures. It is necessary to wash the head of the penis several times a day with warm water using soap. This is usually enough to eliminate redness and no more treatment is needed.
If such procedures do not lead to a positive result, you should treat this area with antiseptics. This must be done a week after the end of daily hygiene procedures. You can not use alcohol, iodine, potassium permanganate for this - these drugs reduce sensitivity in the glans penis.
Antiseptics are much more effective, they have a wider spectrum of action, and local use does not cause any complications. It is unlikely that someone would think of using a tablet form of the drug to treat the bacteria that hit the head of the penis. After all, the drug will pass through many internal organs. It is much easier to directly process the head directly.
If the use of antiseptics does not give an effect, then the mucous membrane of the penis is badly damaged. The best solution is to see a doctor. In modern medicine, there are several drugs that help restore the natural properties of the mucosa, however, they are selected individually, because they differ in their effect. There are cases when, in addition to local drugs, it is necessary to carry out general immunomodulating therapy.
