Andrey Chivurin is well known to any fan of KVN. After a “service” with the rank of captain of the famous KVN team, he became editor of the Premier League for seventeen years, but never moved to the Russian capital. This story is about how the Air Force senior lieutenant managed to become the leader of the Kharkov KVN KhAI team and forever connect his life with humor, while earning the honorary title of "orderly of humor".
Andrey Chivurin. Caveman Biography
His life began in Dresden on May 9, 1964. Of course, such a vivid combination of circumstances of birth could not but be reflected in the form of some everyday victories. Having successfully completed the children's period (secondary school in the city of Uman), in 1981 he decided to become a student at the Kharkov Aviation Institute (KhAI), and at the same time a member of the KVN team. But the first attempt failed. After that, for about six months he was one of the employees of the design bureau of the Strategic Missile Forces Plant (Department of the KhAI).
Chivurin Andrey Petrovich began the army service (airplane technician) in 1987 in the Belorussian Military District. Having served two years as a senior lieutenant, he, a year after returning home, became the captain of the KVN KhAI team.
At the moment, Chivurin is also a happy grandfather raising a beloved granddaughter. He also loves diving and traveling.
KhAI in KVN
Officially it is believed that the team was formed on April 4, 1990. Two years later, the guys became full-fledged participants in the KiViN-1992 festival and immediately went to the Highest League of KVN. After the guys won first place in the quarter-finals, in the semi-finals they still had to give the championship to the YSMI team, and in the end they did not go any further. However, when they went on stage to congratulate the champions, the “Khayivtsi” received a prize with the catchy title “For Principality”.
The next time, Andrei Chivurin and his team took part in the game as early as 1994. This time the team got the opportunity to compete in the quarter finals, where it won first place. But in the final again the leadership was with the YSMI team, and the Khayivites took second place.
A year has passed. Finale again. This time, reaching the finals, the KhAI lost 0.1 points to the “Hussar Squadron”, but the jury decided not to give the scores and awarded the teams a draw. And already in 1996, Andrei Chivurin and the team won the summer cup. Participating in games until 2000, the team earned great spectator love, and many jokes, as they say, “went to the people” (which is the famous “Bully Song” performed by Chivurin). Since 1996, Andrei was also the editor of the Higher League of KVN.
League of Laughter
Being an active person by nature, Chivurin, together with Naum Baruley (also the editor of KVN), decide to create his own, a Ukrainian bridgehead for young and talented comedians. According to Andrei Petrovich himself, it was thanks to effective contact with the Kvartal 95 studio that several popular sitcoms were born. But the most sensational project was the “League of Laughter” - a kind of alternative to KVN.
However, it all started with failures. At first, without explaining anything intelligibly, the channels refused to create a television version of the Ukrainian KVN. And in order not to waste the potential of young humorous teams in vain, Chivurin and Barul begin cooperation with the Kvartal 95 studio, as a result of which the Ukrainian championship in humor with the aforementioned name, which was invented by the Kvartalists, is born.
However, another name is not everything. It was decided to change the format. The bottom line is: young teams go on stage and try to interest the judges in themselves, who, in turn, if they liked the team, get out of their seats. If several judges stand, the team will decide for itself who will become its coach and will play with her in the next games. The number of people in the team does not matter (for example, a significant part of the performance of the Transparent Racer team is made up of a conversation with the audience behind the scenes, and only then does the participant enter the stage whose text is based on pure improvisation). The language in which the team will speak is also not important - more than half of the teams communicate with the audience in Russian, and even there is one (“Resting together”), who managed to make surzhik a visiting card of his numbers ...
This project has been very successful and with the beginning of each new season is gaining an increasing number of participants and fans. And also, in addition to the main games of the season, competitions for the Summer and Winter Cups appeared.

"Illuminated" Andrei Chivurin on television and as a screenwriter. He was the co-author of the script for the famous "Soldiers" (from the fourth to fourteenth seasons).
