The composition of Malibu liquor is quite simple and was created recently, in 1985. Almost immediately, Malibu cocktails became almost the most popular drink in European nightclubs, and all because the uncomplicated liquor recipe, consisting of rum and coconut, tastes very good, and its strength reaches 21%.
Historically, liquor came to Europe, and then to the eastern countries from the island of Barbados, which is located in the Caribbean. By the way, Barbados is also the birthplace of the rum itself - the British settlers in the 17th century put all kinds of experiments there to get alcohol. As a result, they even got beer from pumpkin peels, but, unlike rum, it was not widely used.
For a long time, rum was a dark, poorly filtered and unpleasantly smelling drink, and only sailors and slaves reveling in it until they lost consciousness, in order to forget about their difficult existence for a while. At that time, they did not even dream of malibu cocktails. For sailors, rum also served as a remedy against scurvy and germs, so it was introduced into the daily diet on ships, and this rule was canceled only 40 years ago. But around 1862, rum was refined and clarified by a new distillation. Since then, it has become a popular drink for rich plantation owners.
Since Malibu was invented in Barbados, it has been sent to Scotland, where in Dumbarton the liquor is bottled and sent for sale all over the world.
Still coming up with new cocktails with Malibu rum, but there are some classic, delicious and tonic options. For example, one of them, "sunrise", sounds like this:
- 30 ml Malibu
- 15 ml grenadine syrup
- Orange juice
This cocktail should be mixed only in a highball glass: pour liquor into it, then orange juice (leaving about two cm to the edge of the glass), mix well and add the syrup on top, which will gradually sink to the bottom, creating the effect of sunrise. Also, for beauty, you can add an orange slice to it.

Malibu cocktails are so popular because the liquor itself consists of white rum and coconut. You can drink it undiluted by adding only lime, but this is already an amateur matter. Many bartenders create their little masterpieces - cocktails with Malibu, mixing drinks and adding ingredients that are very popular. You can even come up with some simple recipe for a cocktail yourself, decorate it with fruit, mint and invite friends to a tasting.
