Acaricidal treatment against ticks: rules and features

Ticks are arthropod arachnids. This is the largest group of the class (approximately 48,000 species). Some of them are parasitic and quite dangerous. Acaricidal treatment allows you to protect your home and land from such "guests".

Varieties of ticks and their degree of danger

For humans, not all ticks are dangerous. However, some are still parasites and carriers of dangerous diseases.

The first group includes microscopic individuals. Many of them are harmless, but on contact cause skin irritation. Their main mission is participation in the formation of humus (contribute to the decomposition of organic matter).

The second group includes small parasites. Some ticks live off by eating cultivated plants. Most of these creatures are considered pests of crops.

The third group is “vampires”. They are especially dangerous for us. These ticks feed on the blood of the "owner". However, the main danger lies in the spread of various kinds of ailments. Ticks can carry many bacteria from diseased to healthy organisms. Sometimes a single tick bite is enough to cause the death of a human (or animal) organism. It is impossible to immediately determine the danger of a "vampire": as a breeding ground for diseases, the parasite itself remains absolutely healthy and does not differ in any way from its kindred brothers. By the way, representatives of this family are prone to “omovampirism”: the hungry attack the well-fed for the sake of taking blood.

One of the effective ways to protect against these creatures is acaricidal treatment from ticks.

What tools are used?

Repellent poisons. They scare away ticks. It is based on diethyltoluamide (acts on all blood-sucking insects). Can be applied to clothing and body. A huge plus is that diethyltoluamide lasts up to 5 days. The main advantage is low toxicity. As an example, we can name the preparations "Biban", "Medilis", "Reftamide", "Off-extreme".

Acaricidal drugs. The drugs allow the extermination of parasites in the treated area (directly in the place of spraying solutions). The most popular are the Tornado-Anticompile, Reftamid, Gardeks.

Insecticidal and repellent agents. They have a wider, combined effect. They allow to kill ticks, preventing new invasions. The most commonly used drugs include Krapp, Mite-Kaput, Gardeks Extreme. The main components are alphamethrin and diethyltoluamide

Most often, it is acaricidal treatment that is chosen. Chemicals, penetrating the body of a parasite, paralyze its nervous system. Ticks die quickly. Acaricidal treatment of the territory should be carried out only by specialists, since the drugs used are quite toxic.

Time of processing

Tick control is best done either in spring or fall. The first option is preferable, since the parasites are activated and multiply in warm time (and sometimes in winter, if the temperature is outside). Spring treatment will deprive ticks of the ability to multiply. The territory must be prepared by removing fallen leaves and old grass.

Where should the treatment be carried out?

First of all - in places where there are a lot of people. It:

  • city parks;

  • horticultural societies;

  • coastal zones;

  • recreation facilities.

Acaricidal treatment can be carried out in the courtyards of private houses, including in adjacent areas.

Professional help

Using the services of professionals is better than tilling the territory yourself. Why? Specialists select the funds that are most effective and at the same time safe. However, you need to apply only to those employees whose companies are registered, have work experience and positive customer reviews.

In addition, you should be aware that acaricidal treatment is considered preventive. It is carried out regularly at objects of different categories. According to the resolution adopted on November 8, 2007 (Federal Law No. 258), the acaricidal treatment of OKVED (code 74.70.3) does not require licensing.

On the one hand, this means that it can be performed by non-professionals (the processing of their own plots by the owner himself). On the other hand, only a specialist will determine exactly what tick the area is infected with, and to what extent, and decide which drug will be more effective (individual selection of poisons for a particular site). In addition, independently conducted acaricidal treatment can be not only useless (therefore, economically unprofitable), but also hazardous to health.

Issue price

And here a logical question arises: "How much does a professional acaricidal treatment cost?" The price (in this case, the total cost of the work) will be determined based on the size of the site, the terrain itself and, of course, the drugs used. On average, from 6 to 10 thousand rubles can be requested for processing a standard summer cottage plot of 10 hundred parts.

On a note...

  1. If you decide to hold such events, notify the neighbors.

  2. Take away from the territory of animals.

  3. Remove hand tools, dishes, children's toys from the site; cover the tables in the gazebos, close the windows and turn off the ventilation.

  4. Do not pick berries, vegetables, mushrooms in the treated areas (at least 10 days).

  5. Do not forget to clean after treatment: wash tables, playgrounds (benches, swings, sandboxes, etc.) with a solution of soda.

  6. The duration of action of the funds used depends on their composition. For example, the breakdown of cypermethrin (the substance that is used most often in open areas) occurs in a month, with a maximum of one and a half. At this time, ticks that have fallen on the treated area die. After a month and a half, it is desirable to repeat the treatment.
