Monogamous is
a type of marriage in which a person officially has only one partner.
This moment is regulated by the legislation of each country. In some countries, polygamous marriages (polygamy / polygamy) are permitted: in some parts of Africa, Asia, the Middle East and North America. In our society, a certain “consistent monogamy” is possible — a complete interruption of past relations and the creation of new ones, that is, divorces.
The choice of the type of marriage - polygamous or monogamous - is, by and large, the influence of religion on society. In Islam, it is allowed to have several wives, but only if the man treats all his women equally. If you take Christianity, you will see that monogamous relationships are the only right relationships between human individuals of different sexes, intimate relationships with another person are considered a terrible sin. All thoughts and feelings should be dedicated to only one partner.
Monogamous is also a type of sexual relationship in which intercourse takes place with only one person. In the animal world, polygamy is most common. The instinct of procreation forces animals to have strong, high-quality offspring, which is obtained from a combination of different
genetic codes. One male fertilizes several females at once. But there are examples of monogamous relationships among animals. The most famous of them are white swans, not for nothing that they are a symbol of love. Another representative is the wolves. Usually monogamous animals behave like people: they live in pairs, take care of the offspring together, and the couple breaks up only if one of the partners dies.
The last point can hardly be attributed to the description of human relations. The number of divorces per year in our country often exceeds the number of marriages. So can we talk about human monogamy? Our society can be called formally monogamous: a monogamous family - yes, monogamous relationships - no. But despite this, countries where monogamous relationships are encouraged are more progressive and safer, unlike polygamous countries where men have to compete among themselves for women who are sorely lacking in such conditions.
Some people are truly monogamous. They are arranged and educated in such a way that they recognize only one partner in their entire lives. Such people do not start new relationships even after the death of their partner: they continue to love and wait for it to be able to reunite with their loved one again.
This devotion is much higher and more conscious than the instincts of monogamous animals. But this happens infrequently in human society.
Monogamous is not a sentence to behave as society indicates. Whether you are monogamous or polygamous, the main thing is to be honest with yourself and other people. No one forces you to be loyal to one person. It is not necessary to tie the knot. However, you should be honest with your partners, timely warning of their inclinations.
