Mold on the walls is a pretty serious problem that many residents face. Mold is a fungal formation that has not yet been sufficiently studied by biologists, unlike plants and animals. About mold with hardness it can be stated that it begins to appear relatively imperceptibly, it can come out almost everywhere, and mold can eat anything.
Mold on the walls can be seen in any corner of the home, about 500 mushroom spores are found in every cubic meter of clean room. The unpleasant impression of the appearance of black, green, blue, yellow-orange color remains in the memory for a long time. Sometimes, in cases of severe neglect of the problem, this picture is accompanied by an unpleasant odor.
Since some time, the fight against mold on the walls has become a way of life. As a rule, the methods chosen for this are not always correct. Someone tries to paint over it, someone spends time washing off with water, but time passes and the โbeautifulโ color on the walls appears again and again.
Mold on the walls not only destroys the material from which they are made, but also destructively affects the health of residents of such a room. Mold on the walls of a residential building can cause some diseases, especially allergies. The respiratory organs are severely affected, and bronchitis, pneumonia, tracheitis, and even bronchial asthma can result . Being in a room affected by mold negatively affects the musculoskeletal system, the condition of the teeth, leads to nausea, vomiting, and sometimes even severe exhaustion. People with weak immunity - children, the elderly - are at risk, inhaling harmful fungi inside, there is a risk of contracting tuberculosis.
It is very difficult to remove the mold that has appeared on the walls. A person can make the process of its reproduction impossible. In order for the removal of mold from the walls to become effective, you must:
- identify the causes of its occurrence;
- eliminate the cause and thereby prevent its new appearance;
- remove the existing fungus from the walls;
The main reason for the appearance of mold on the walls is the increased, and constantly, the humidity in the living room (normally a value of 70-80% is considered).
Often people themselves create a favorable atmosphere for the life of the fungus. Conditions that contribute to mold include:
- Construction defects (absence or poor-quality waterproofing in interpanel seams, too high humidity of building materials).
- Extremely wet walls during rain.
- Moist foundation. Moisture is sucked from the foundation along the walls (especially typical for old rooms without waterproofing).
- Installation of plastic double-glazed windows. The room does not breathe, ventilation and, therefore, humidity are disturbed.
- Causes of a domestic nature, such as the presence of a large number of domestic plants, animals, uneven heating, frequent washing.
The main factor in the fight against mold on the walls is the adoption of preventive measures. The first thing you should pay attention to is the correctly positioned heating devices and the regularity of ventilation of the living room. Then you can follow the following plan:
- if small mold spots are found, treat with peroxide or vinegar;
- install hinged windows and ventilate the room as often as possible;
- leave the doors in the bathroom as open as possible;
- use a special tool for deep processing (preferably to concrete or to brick) of the walls;
- carry out the necessary work in the basement;
To permanently remove mold on the walls, proven folk remedies are often used.
- Wall treatment with creosote.
- Treatment with an aqueous solution with the addition of one of the means:
- one and a half kg of sodium fluoride;
- copper (iron) vitriol - 1 kg;
- borax 900 g, boric acid - 400 g, 1.4 kg of vinegar;
Water is used in a volume of 10 liters.
The solution should be heated to a temperature of 70 degrees and applied to the formed mold. Processing can be carried out monthly until complete confidence in the destruction of the fungus.
