Acrylic bath inserts: positive and negative reviews

The installation of an acrylic insert in the bath has been an alternative to replacing the old bath with a new one for some time. In theory, everything looks quite simple: there are acrylic liners of standard sizes, one is selected from this line and installed on top of old enamel. The voids between the bathtub and liner are filled with foam. During installation, the drain holes are combined. Then the bathtub is filled with water, which will act as a load. In this state, the tank remains for two days, after which the water drains. This is how the acrylic insert is installed in the bath.

The cost of such restoration consists of several values: the cost of the liner, auxiliary materials, metal components for equipping the drain hole, the cost of delivery and repair work. Nevertheless, the price is much lower than the cost of a new bath. That is why people are increasingly choosing acrylic inserts in the bath instead of replacing. Reviews about them after the start of operation are the most controversial: from positive to sharply negative. Let us dwell on them in more detail.

Acrylic bath inserts: positive reviews

So, what are the arguments advocated by acrylic liners? The first of them is the price: changing a bath is much more expensive than restoring it. The second argument is the shortest time and the small amount of work. After the visit of the measurer and the delivery of the insert, it will take no more than three days, and most of the time will take the exposure of the insert under load. Even acrylic is not slippery (increased safety), warm, slowly gives off heat and is well washed.

Opponents have no less arguments: the insert can break if not all voids were filled with foam. But this is rather a lack of installation. Also, acrylic is easily scratched, can darken and cloud. And at the very beginning of operation, the liners also creak - like snow underfoot. Not dangerous, but rather unpleasant. The list of operating requirements is especially scary: do not clean with abrasives, do not wash animals, do not wash dyeing fabrics, do not stand up, do not drop anything! I would like to ask: "And how to use it at all?"

And finally, the most important drawback - the bath becomes unusable for six months to a year instead of the declared 10 years. Of course, it is possible that the buyer acquired a poor-quality insert or turned to a bad company, but, in fact, this is not easier. Anyway, the money has already been paid, but there is no result.

So what about acrylic bath inserts? The reviews were divided approximately in half, and on average, the attitude towards such a restoration is quite unambiguous. Most people think that an acrylic liner is a short-lived replacement, and it makes sense if you don’t want to pay for a full bath replacement. For example, if you rent or rent an apartment, or intend to sell your home in a year or two. Then, of course, there is no need to invest in capital repairs. And all the disagreements are caused by the individual attitude of each person to the question of whether it is worth paying relatively little money for a short-lived (possibly) bathroom repair. Theoretically, the service life of an acrylic insert is 15-20 years. But for this it is necessary to order restoration in a reputable company and fulfill all safety requirements during operation.
