The BMW Longlife engine oils are subject to increased requirements, which is associated with the design features of the engines. In order for lubricants to be approved for use in BMW vehicles, they must have the following characteristics and perform certain functions:
- Energy saving. The use of Longlife oil should allow the engine to operate according to Efficient Dynamics technology, which allows to improve dynamic performance, reduce wear and increase fuel economy.
- Detergent properties. During the operation of the power unit, various contaminants are formed, which ideally should be washed off with engine oil and discharged to the filters, which avoids deposits.
- Anticorrosive. Protect the engine and its main elements from corrosion. Additives in the oil must not adversely affect the surface of the parts.
- Starting and viscosity-temperature. Engine oil must maintain its properties over a wide temperature range and over the entire rev range.
- Cooling and sealing. BMW engines are manufactured using innovative technology. During operation, the friction surfaces are heated to high temperatures, and the engine oil must remove the generated heat. It was created on the basis of technologies that allow extracting oil from pure natural gas. Other Longlife engine oils deserve no less attention.
BMW Longlife 98
Motor oils manufactured since 1998 for certain gasoline power units are classified as Longlife 98. They can also be used in power units in which the lubricant replacement interval is equal to the Longlife replacement interval and does not exceed 20 thousand kilometers.
This category of engine oils is only compatible with older cars. ACEA A3 / B3 classification defines basic engine oil tolerance requirements . The manufacturer does not recommend the use of this lubricant for vehicles manufactured later than 1998.
BMW Longlife 2001
BMW cars manufactured since 2001 use engine oils for gasoline engines with extended drain intervals and for older vehicles. ACEA A3 / B4 is based on basic maintenance and replacement requirements. The amount of sulfate ash included in Longlife oils does not exceed 1.6%. The high-temperature viscosity index is not lower than 3.5 cps.
Oils of this category are more resistant to carbon deposits and soot, in contrast to their predecessor. Parts of the power unit are reliably protected from rapid wear and are characterized by high thermal oxidative stability. Regular use of engine oil avoids deposits on the pistons.
Oil Longlife 5W30 01 SAE
Gasoline engine oil is specially formulated to reduce fuel consumption. Using the product reduces the amount of carbon deposits formed on the pistons and protects engine parts from corrosion. Keeps operational characteristics and properties throughout the entire period of work. Regardless of the mode of operation, engine oil protects the engine and extends its working life.
Longlife 01 0W30
This is a synthetic engine oil developed specifically for BMW diesel cars. It can be used on models released later than 2007. Engine oil is suitable for diesel engines equipped with a particulate filter. The product meets all quality standards and extends the life of the engine. Longlife III oil change interval is 20 thousand kilometers.
Longlife 01 0W40
A special formula engine oil made for the diesel engines of BMW cars manufactured since 2007. Product characteristics and properties increase the operating life of the particulate filter.
BMW 01 oil
An original line of engine oils that meets all the requirements and quality standards of the manufacturer. Protects the engine from accelerated wear, forms a durable oil film on its parts. BMW Longlife 04
Engine oil, produced in 2004 and used for engines of modern cars. ACEA C3 is based on the basic requirements for the product and its replacement. Products have limited high temperature viscosity. The amount of sulfate ash, phosphorus and sulfur included in the oil was reduced.
The characteristics and properties of Longlife oil allow it to be used in BMW cars equipped with DPF diesel particulate filters and exhaust gas aftertreatment catalysts. Compared to the 01 range, this series is highly resistant to soot and fuel economy. The material can be used on older cars.
