How to draw a mill in stages with a pencil?

A mill is a mechanism by which you can grind something. They can be either manual or electric, and water or wind. Nowadays, the last two types of mills are rarely used and most children have never seen them, but they can be drawn. And in this article we will look at how to do this.

Materials

To draw a mill, you need a regular pencil (HB or softer), an eraser, a ruler and paper. For coloring the finished drawing, you can take pencils or pastels. If for this purpose you want to use paints or felt-tip pens, then take thicker paper.

How to draw a mill for a child?

First of all, you need to draw a tower, inside of which the mill mechanism itself is located. This tower is similar in shape to a cone, so first you need to draw two oblique lines using a ruler.

Combine the drawn lines below and above with two semicircles. You should have a figure that is wide at the base and tapering closer to the top. On the top of the tower we draw a dome-shaped roof and in the center we draw a small circle.

Using a ruler, draw two lines through the circle on the roof of the tower so that they form the letter X. This way you get two axes on which the wings of the mill should be located.

The wings themselves have the shape of a lattice, and to draw them, draw rectangles on each of the axes. Axes should divide these rectangles in half. Then add small stripes inside the rectangles to represent the grill on the wings. After that, remove unnecessary items with the eraser.

Now the tower itself needs to add a few details. For example, a round window in the center and a wide entrance in the form of an arch. Remember to add another curved line at the entrance to show the back wall of the tower. In the end, you can colorize your mill using bright colors.

How to draw a water mill?

The most common image is a building by the river with a large wheel on the side.

To draw the mill with a pencil, we first depict a small house. To do this, draw a square and an inclined rectangle for the base, and draw a roof on top.

On the side of the house we draw a wheel: first we draw a circle, and then on one side we add another curved line to give volume to the figure. On the edge of the wheel we add horizontal stripes, and in the middle of the circle we draw lines depicting the spokes.

Now you can add some details to the picture. Draw a square window and a door on the house, and under the wheel you can depict a river with wavy lines. After you finish the drawing, erase the excess and color it.

An easy way to draw a windmill

There is another easy way to portray a mill. A child can easily cope with it. Here's how to draw a mill in stages:

1. Draw a triangle shape with rounded corners.
2. Add a small circle at the top to represent the axis.
3. Draw the rectangular wings of the mill symmetrically on the axis.
4. Add wings to the details by drawing straight lines on them. The easiest way to do this is with a ruler.
5. Draw horizontal lines on the mill tower and you can start painting. Do not forget to wipe off the extra details of the picture.

If you wish, you can come up with a different pattern for the mill instead of lines.

Another method to draw a mill

Mills can look different, and here is another way to depict them:

1. Draw a figure that looks like a tall trapezoid.
2. Add a small rectangle on top.
3. Draw a circle on the side of the rectangle, and another smaller circle inside.
4. Add small quadrangular shapes on the sides.
5. Fill the inner circle.
6. Draw 4 long rectangular elements on which the wider quadrangles are located.
7. Add wings to the details to make them look more realistic.
8. Draw the door below.
9. Draw a couple of rings on the tower and add windows.
10. Paint the doors.
11. Remove excess lines on the wings of the mill.
12. Add some details. For example, grass, flowers and trees around the mill, and on top of the clouds and the sun. Then color your picture.

Modern windmill

At the word “mill” we most often represent an old flour mill. But there are modern wind turbines, which are also called electric. Here's how to draw a windmill:

1. Draw a small circle and lower two lines down from it.
2. From the center of the circle, draw three lines in different directions.
3. Inside the small circle drawn earlier, add another small circle.
4. On the circle, add three mill blades similar to the petals.
5. Behind the resulting fan-like structure, draw a rectangular piece to show the back of the mill.
6. Place two vertical lines of the column on which the “fan” is located, and add a horizontal line from the bottom.
7. Now it remains only to delete the unnecessary elements with the eraser and the picture is ready. Usually such mills are white, so you don’t need to color them, but you can add some shadows to the image.

Mill with a house

Windmills are used to generate electricity in many countries around the world. They are used even in small houses. Here's how to draw a house with a mill:

1. Draw two rectangles on top of each other. The bottom rectangle should be lower and wider.
2. On the upper rectangle, outline the wings of the future mill, and next to the bottom draw a sketch of a wide, short house.
3. Draw the mill tower as shown.
4. Start drawing wings from the cross.
5. Add the missing details to the wings.
6. Draw a contour of the roof of the house.
7. Next, draw a contour of the front side of the building, as shown in the figure.
8. Draw two stripes under the mill tower, and then draw two more lines under the house. The last two stripes should go outside the house and reach the bottom of the mill, as shown in the image.
9. Draw some vertical lines on the bottom of the tower.
10. Draw the roof of the house and add windows with doors.
11. Draw some more details.
12. Make the necessary improvements to complete the drawing and colorize it.
