How to put kvass at home

Summer is probably the most favorite time of the year for most people, but sometimes it is too hot during this period. I want to stand in a cool shower, drink something and, preferably, not too warm. The best drink that can really quench your thirst is kvass. Moreover, it perfectly restores strength, relieves fatigue, normalizes metabolic processes. Kvass has a beneficial effect on the activity of the gastrointestinal tract, relieves dysbiosis and is useful for the cardiovascular system.

Today in stores you can buy some kind of kvass, it is nothing like ordinary soda, stuffed with flavors, stabilizers, dyes and other food additives. Many have already begun to forget the taste of the kvass that aunts sold in the Soviet era, pouring it into glass mugs from a large yellow barrel with a faucet. But not everything is lost, because no one has forgotten the preparation of kvass at home .

This diet drink has bactericidal properties and contains a lot of useful substances: these are proteins, and lactic acid, and many other components. There are many types of kvass: they add rye, barley bread, and malt, and honey, and strawberries, and cinnamon, and mint, etc. And now we will give some recipes on how to put kvass so that you can enjoy the real taste of this magic drink.

Recipe number 1. You will need the following products: 1 kilogram of rye bread; 200 grams of sugar; 8-10 liters of water; 25 grams of yeast; raisins (at the rate of 5 berries per three-liter bottle); a handful of dry mint. Before you put kvass, you will need to dry the bread in the oven, which should then be cut into thin slices beforehand. But do not overdo it, it should only lightly brown, and not burn. After that, put the resulting crackers in a large container (or in a few smaller pots) and pour boiling water. All this should be insisted about 3-4 hours.

The next step in the method of setting kvass is to add yeast, mint and sugar to the resulting infusion. You can add a little cinnamon, this will give the drink a special aroma, and burnt sugar will make kvass more saturated in color. Next, cover the container with gauze, put it in a warm place for 6 hours for fermentation. When, after the indicated time, the infusion begins to foam, it will need to be filtered through gauze folded into several layers and poured into pre-prepared three-liter jars. In each of them put 5 washed and dried raisins. Infuse the drink for 2-3 days, after which you can begin to enjoy its wonderful aroma and taste.

Recipe number 2 tells how to put kvass without using yeast. To do this, you need a loaf of black yeast-free bread, which should be cut into pieces and fry in a pan so that it burns a little. Next, pour these crackers with ten liters of warm water and pour sugar there to taste, but focusing on one glass. We put it again in a warm place for three days, after which we filter and pour it. However, do not rush to throw the thick bread out of rusks: return it back to the container, add a little more toasted bread and sugar to it, and again fill it with water. Put insist. Each subsequent infusion will be even more intense and delicious, especially when cold.

Thanks to these simple recipes, you can make kvass as often as you want. And finally, a small warning: kvass can contain from 0.5% to 2.5% alcohol. It depends on the composition of the drink. For this reason, it is better not to give kvass to small children.
