The same persons who use electricity and, accordingly, electrical appliances are responsible for safety measures.
It is especially important to comply with electrical safety rules in rural areas, since the likelihood of electric shock there is much higher, and the consequences of electrical injuries are harder. This is explained by the specific operating conditions of the devices, which are often switched on outdoors (sometimes at too high humidity), therefore, under the influence of external influences, the wear of the insulation is more intense. Contact with live parts can lead to very serious consequences. And it is especially dangerous when a person is on the ground at the moment of electric shock. Irresponsibility and negligence often lead to electric shocks, burns with splashes of molten metal, fires, and death.
Basic rules of electrical safety in everyday life:
- never leave electrical appliances unattended;
- Do not use electrical appliances in the shower (or in the bathroom);
- Do not turn them on if in doubt of serviceability;
- do not deviate from the rules of use specified in the manuals for the devices;
- Do not proceed with the repair of electrical products connected to the network;
- some electrical appliances require a special installation; trust this installation only to specialists;
- keep the wiring and the devices themselves in good condition.
Home appliances today are mostly equipped with fuses and circuit breakers. Unable to withstand the occasional electrical load, they are automatically turned off. Do not stand in line with the "homegrown craftsmen" who independently install fusible inserts ("bugs"). The wiring quickly overheats, the insulation begins to melt. It is a common source of ignition.
Oddly enough, electrical safety in everyday life is often ignored. And many do not even think about it. What dangers lurk in electrical appliances that have become so familiar to us? Let's consider in more detail.
Lighting devices (chandeliers, ceiling and wall lamps , sconces) are rarely the cause of fires and injuries. The main thing - do not turn on for a long time, but when leaving - turn it off. In portable luminaires, the danger is higher: broken insulation of the wires will cause sparking and, possibly, fire.
Electronic devices (players, radios, televisions, amplifiers, computer equipment). It is very important to comply with all electrical safety rules specified in the rules of use. Do not allow metal or liquid objects to get inside, do not install the equipment in furniture niches, do not disassemble electronic devices, or engage in self-repair. Savings can be too expensive.
Even being in the specialized rooms equipped with observance of all norms, do not forget about caution. As an example, electrical safety rules in a computer class:
- during work, hands should be clean and dry;
- do not go behind computers (work area);
- do not touch the connectors;
- Do not touch the grounding devices and power wires;
- Do not touch the screens and the back of the monitors;
- Do not turn the equipment on or off without prior notice to the teacher.
Heating devices (electric kettles, heaters, irons). These devices are, as a rule, with a large energy consumption, so the inclusion of several of them at once in a single socket (using tees) is unacceptable: there is a high probability of overheating of the wires, a violation of the integrity of their insulation and fire. The power cords should not be very close to heating appliances, much less lying on them. The most common cause of domestic fires is unattended heating appliances.
Air vents in electrical appliances - a zone of special attention. Do not place flower vases on monitors, system units, TVs; prevent children from throwing anything through openings inside the case (pins, keys, paper clips, carnations, etc.); Do not block the ventilation openings (overheating is unacceptable).
Explain electrical safety to children. Limit as much as possible unwanted contacts of animals and children with current sources. Do not leave the plugs in outlets even if the appliances are turned off.
Observing the simple rules of electrical safety, you will not only keep your property safe and sound - you will save your life. And not only mine ...
