The mass of the fire extinguisher with dimensions of 662 x 168 mm is 14 kg. The extinguishing agent contained in the OP-10 extinguisher has a mass of 10 kg. The duration of its filing is more than 15 seconds. In this case, the jet can be supplied at a distance of more than 4 meters.
Powder-type fire extinguisher OP-10 is used to extinguish a fire of liquids, oil products, gases and electrical installations (with an operating voltage of less than 1000 V). It is not used to eliminate the ignition of materials whose combustion is possible without oxygen.
OP-10 fire extinguisher can be of two types:
- An injection pump, the design of which includes a locking device (providing easy opening) and a manometer (for monitoring pressure in the cylinder).
- With a built-in pressure source for which a gas tank is used.
Advantages and disadvantages
OP-10 fire extinguisher has the following advantages:
- It is a universal fire extinguishing agent (wide scope).
- Effective for eliminating fires of various classes.
- It has a wide range of operating temperatures (from -30 to +50 degrees).
- It is possible to extinguish a fire from a short distance, since a cloud of extinguishing powder creates a “screen” that protects from high temperatures.
OP-10 fire extinguisher has some disadvantages:
- The surfaces of the treated object are contaminated with powder.
- If stored improperly, caking may occur. As a result, a loss of performance.
- Short response time (15 seconds).
Use of a fire extinguisher
It is necessary to use an OP-10 fire extinguisher at a distance of 3-4 m to the outbreak. To start the fire extinguishing, it is necessary to pull out the check. The following is activated:
- In fire extinguishers of the injection type, you must press the start handle.
- In fire extinguishers with a built-in pressure source, the handle for starting the gas cylinder is pulled up, then a hand presses the handle of the spray gun.
Fire extinguishing is carried out only from the windward side. A jet of extinguishing powder is directed to a burning surface, cutting the flame. Powder should cover the entire surface. In the combustion zone, a maximum concentration of extinguishing agent is created. You can use it repeatedly, with interruptions. At the end of the quenching, the start handle is pressed and the remaining powder is thrown away from you.
After use, the fire extinguisher must be recharged.
Service life - no more than 1.5 years from the date of manufacture under the correct storage conditions. The OP-10 fire extinguisher must not be installed in direct sunlight and near heating appliances, the temperature of which may exceed 50 degrees. Every year he must be tested in specialized organizations.
