The future journalist was born on October 26, 1955 in Moscow. Alexander Goltz spent all his childhood in the capital of Russia. After graduation at school, he entered Moscow State University. In 1980, Alexander Goltz got a job at the editorial office of the Ministry of Defense. In those years, the Krasnaya Zvezda newspaper was published there, and Goltz conducted a weekly column entitled “Theme of the week”.
In 1996, he transferred to the editorial office of the Itogi print publication. It is here that the journalist gains the glory of a military columnist, who now serves as an epithet to his name.

Political activity
The political situation in the country always bothered Goltz. That is why in 2004 he decided to change the current state of affairs and joined the Committee “2008: Free Choice”. The main goal of this organization was to ensure fair and open elections in 2008.
In 2005, the efforts of members of this committee created a new political force called the United Civil Front (FMG). Garry Kasparov, a well-known chess player and public figure, became the head of this organization.
After the victory of Vladimir Putin in 2008, the FMG turned to the opposition. On March 10, 2010, all members of this movement, including Alexander Golts, signed the appeal “Putin must leave.”
