They tried to produce cars in Sweden from the beginning of the 20th century. But the Swedes were constantly unlucky: either the crisis covered the country, then competitors took their hands on the entire market. It all ended up in the fact that in the second half of the 20th century, automotive industry in the northern country almost completely disappeared. But Askar Gabrielson and Gustaf Larson managed to develop a car whose reliability could be compared with the global car makers. And the technical characteristics helped to overcome bad roads and did not depend on weather conditions. And in 1926 the first model of the Volvo brand was produced. A universal car accelerated to 90 km / h - a very serious figure for those times. The volumetric 2-liter engine totaled 28 horsepower. It was a clean breakthrough for two aspiring businessmen. Now Volvo is a world-famous car market leader.
Another well-known company Saab came into the world of cars in an even more unusual way. The main type of her activity was the production of military aircraft and fighters. In 1937, managers decided to try to realize the potential of the company in a new industry. So “Saab” began to produce cars. Now cars of this brand are better known in Sweden than in the rest of the world, but they are not inferior in quality to more well-known competitors.
The Koenigsegg sports car brand was named after its founder, Christian von Koenigsegg. He created the first model of the car in 1993. Now the company successfully competes with world leaders in this segment: Ferrari and Lamborghini.

The secret of Volvo's success was the production of low-cost cars and competent advertising. The ideal quality-price ratio was highly valued in the post-war world.
