The year 1948 is significant for all lovers of two-wheeled vehicles. Indeed, this year “Java” began manufacturing its first motorcycle. He had a two-stroke engine with a cylinder volume of 350 cm 3 . This model has improved over time, but has not received global changes.

This strategy led to the fact that the 350 model (type 638.5) is only a few details similar to the forty-year-old predecessor. Java 638 was developed on the basis of type 634, which was commissioned in 1974.

Most of all, the design has changed in it. Java 638 has a new tank, covers and saddle, thanks to which the motorcycle began to look more attractive. The fuel tank in this case took an angular shape. On previous models, the inscription was almost invisible. Now this is a diagonally located and catchy emblem that can be seen from afar. Both sides of the tank have comfortable elastics for the knees that fit into the shape of the saddle and are equipped with a protrusion.

Java engine has light metal cylinders and cast iron liners. The volume of the combustion chamber remained unchanged - 343.47 cm 3 , with a diameter and stroke of the piston, respectively, 58/65 mm.

Java 638 has a compression ratio of 10.2: 1 and engine power of 25.8 hp, which is pretty good for those years. The carburetor diffuser bore diameter is 28 mm.

It is also structurally improved enrichment, which was an innovation for that time.

Therefore, gloves stained with gasoline have become a thing of the past, which on a good side describes a motorcycle like Java 638, whose technical characteristics are so high.

Gasoline for such an "iron horse" is diluted with oil in a ratio of 1:40. Electrical equipment is installed, designed for a voltage of 12 V, which positively affects the illumination of the road at night.

Motorcycle Java 638 has a gearbox with needle bearings and a clutch basket equipped with 5 clamping springs.

Riding in Java is straightforward. The comfort level of such a motorcycle is high enough even for its class. After all, a stiff saddle during a long trip does not bring any problems. Java 638 behaves well on the road. It is stable even off-road. This is achieved by the good properties of the front fork, which is stiff and able to compensate for even significant bumps in the road.

Rear adjustable shock absorbers make it possible to load the motorcycle even on rough roads. The dimensions of this vehicle are such that it is ideal for driving together. On such a machine, the presence of a tachometer, with which you can accurately determine the engine speed, is significantly pleasing.

Although the saddle in Java is removed quite simply, however, it must be installed carefully. After all, you can easily scratch the casing. It's nice that the motorcycle has a completely closed chain. This not only protects the latter from dust, but also protects from the consequences of its rupture.

In general, a Java motorcycle is not only a reliable car, but also prestigious even for our time. Indeed, for the cost of a used “old woman” you will not buy anything suitable in quality. Therefore, it is worth taking a closer look at this option, and not buying a new, low-quality motorcycle.
