The Perm Circus showed its first performances in a mobile temporary tent-tent. And at that time it was, in fact, not a local circus, but representations of visiting circus troupes.
The beginning of the Perm Circus
For the first time, residents of Perm saw the circus performance more than 130 years ago.
The first circus troupe, which pleased its performance with Perm residents, was the then-famous "Italian Circus" led by M. Truzzi. A few years later, another eminent circus came to the city, led by circus art legend Vladimir Durov. After that, other well-known circus troupes also became frequent in Perm: the Borovsky circus, the menagerie of Eigus, the troupe of the Dagomeans, the wax museum of Botsva, etc.
Perm Circus: permanent building
Such popularity of performances in Perm was the reason that it was decided to erect a permanent wooden building for the Perm Circus.
Over the many years of existence, the circus changed its address many times. The wooden buildings in which it was located were burned down or demolished. Until finally, in 1970, the Perm State Circus found its permanent address on Uralskaya Street and a stationary building, which everyone still easily recognizes.
The circus building has a classical circus amphitheater shape. Its height is 18 meters and the hall seats 2047 spectators, which can be located on 22 rows.
Circus Museum
At the end of 1995, the Perm Circus opened the doors of its museum, exhibits for which gathered for many years. The circus staff and its fans carefully stored and then transferred to the museum more than 15 thousand unique exhibits, including old posters, rare books, various photographs from performances from different years, old props and costumes for performances, and much more. The museum exposition can be visited by any spectator after the presentation.
In addition to exhibition work, the museum holds zoo-lessons for children or "kindness lessons", as they are also called. These lessons help expand children's knowledge of animals, instill a love for them and introduce them more closely to circus life. Tours are also conducted behind the scenes of the circus, to the stable, there is the opportunity to attend open rehearsals. In the museum, having visited the Perm Circus, everyone can leave reviews.
Circus today
The modern Perm State Circus sets up various programs with the participation of unique animals: acrobat monkeys, cougars, brown and Himalayan bears, poodles, sea lions and many others. Famous air acrobats, funny clowns and superpowers go to the circus arena.
Perm Circus pleases its audience with almost all circus genres:
- fearless tightrope walkers perform insane stunts under his dome;
- jugglers and balancers gracefully catch and toss various objects;
- acrobats perform breathtaking somersaults both under the circus dome and in its arena;
- hilariously funny clowns put unique numbers, it is simply impossible to resist laughing, looking at them.
Of course, an important part of the circus program is the performance of animal artists. In addition to the exotic species listed above, circus trainers decided to use in their performances well-known spectators of the inhabitants of Russian forests: wild boars, bears and lynxes.
Moreover, in the rooms, the trainers managed to combine seemingly eternal enemies in nature. For example, in one of the rooms, lynxes are sitting on the backs of bears, while boars are trying to perform an elegant dance to the music of the waltz. And how about clumsy bears gracefully jumping from pedestal to pedestal?
All this unique program appeared thanks to the unusual author’s methodology of Vladimir Dobryakov’s training, which is based on humanity and good nutrition. Vladimir is sure that you can find an approach to any animal without using force, but only talking to them, using kind words. And he applies this technique both with obedient dogs, and with predators that can rush at a person at any time. Pupils of Vladimir often act in films, for example, in Bear Kiss and Cadets.
One of the audience’s favorite shows is the performance with the Amazon horses. In it, several horses perform a graceful dance, doing everything synchronously and rhythmically. Spectators are always enthusiastic about this number, marveling at the smoothness and coherence of the movements of such large animals.
