How to photograph fruits in water

Pure clear water, bright fruits, a whirlwind of air bubbles - together it all looks very impressive. If you are learning to shoot, be sure to try to master this technique.

Materials and equipment

In order to beautifully remove the fruits in the water, we need a scuba gear, a scuba diving suit , a camera with a function for shooting in depth and a ticket to a tropical island. Believe it? It is not surprising, because some pictures of sinking fruits evoke just such ideas about the work of the photographer.

In fact, you donโ€™t have to go anywhere to take fruits in the water. We will need the following:

  • glassware, preferably square or rectangular;
  • thin foam sheet;
  • needles;
  • fruit;
  • highly carbonated water;
  • camera.

Process

Why exactly soda? Unlike ordinary water, it allows you to get just amazing bubbles. Just try to drop strawberries in a glass with a sprite for a short while, and soon you will see that it is covered with spectacular transparent beads.

From the foam cut out a piece that repeats the shape of the bottom of glassware. The dishes themselves should naturally be very clean. If you are just learning to remove fruits in water, first take a vessel with flat walls: an aquarium, a vase, a flask. Later it will be possible to experiment with convex walls. Lower the foam to the bottom, and pin the fruit with needles to it. Now you can fill in the water.

If you have a lightbox, this will greatly facilitate the task - just put the object in it. If not, take care of the background that will shine through the vessel.

After you take the first pictures of the fruit, continue the experiments, take sinking and floating fruits in the water. You may need an assistant for this task.

Camera settings

Depending on the model, select the desired settings. Of course, you can carry out a similar shooting in the "Auto" mode. But exposure experiments can have remarkable effects. The smaller it is, the sharper the frames will turn out (do not forget that in such cases additional light is needed). At long exposures, the trailing plume of bubbles will merge together.

Use all the features of your camera, experiment with bokeh and aperture so that the fruits in the water you take photos look most impressive.
