Currants prefer sandy loamy and loamy soils with sufficient moisture reserves. Planting currants in autumn is carried out by biennial or annual seedlings with a well-developed root system.

Planting black currants in autumn should be carried out according to certain schemes.
- The distance between rows is 2 meters, and between plants in rows - up to 1.5 meters.
- The tape scheme is distinguished by a thickened arrangement of bushes, and the distance between them is from 0.5 to 0.8 meters. Adult bushes with this method will merge into a solid line, and they will need a more thorough pruning during the growing season.
At first, until the bushes have grown, early rows of vegetables can be grown between rows, which will be harvested before the berries are picked (radishes, greens, and legumes).
In order for the planting of currants in the fall to be successful and all planting material has taken root, the roots of the seedlings need to be cut to healthy tissues. Then they need to be dipped in a clay mash and left until disembarkation.
Landing
Oblique planting in the fall of currants will ensure its best survival in spring. It is recommended to deepen by 10-11 cm. With such a planting, buds in spring will give a powerful vertical growth, due to which a strong productive bush will quickly form. With a small direct planting of seedlings, the plant will develop as a low-yielding tree with a short growing season.
With a deep planting, especially on heavy soil, the root system will not have enough oxygen, and the plant will stop growing, which will also adversely affect the crop.
If the soil water is close, it is possible to plant currants on hills or ridges (1 m wide) in autumn.
When placing the root part of the seedling in the planting pit, you need to ensure that all the roots are straightened and do not bend up. Sprinkle with soil with humus and mineral fertilizers, gently shaking the plant and periodically compacting the soil. Thus, there will be no voids in the root layer, and the earth will evenly fill the landing pit.
Planting in the autumn currants of two or three varieties with different ripening dates is recommended.
Watering
When the hole is half-filled, watering is done (1/2 bucket per hole). Then they add earth, tamp, water again and mulch with peat or humus (10 cm).
After planting all the seedlings, you need to loosen the soil between the rows.
All varieties of currants are moisture-loving, since their roots are located 20-50 cm from the surface. If water-loading irrigation was carried out in the fall, then in spring the roots will begin to grow actively, thereby ensuring early budding of the buds and plentiful flowering. With a small amount of rainfall in summer, periodic irrigation of currants is necessary, especially on light soil. In the absence of rain, you need to water the bushes in early June, when strong shoot growth begins, in late June - before flowering; in July, when the berries are poured, in mid-August - after harvesting. And autumn water-loading irrigation is also needed in October, if autumn is dry.
Irrigation rate per plant: 50-60 liters per 1 square. m. Water should moisten the entire root layer of the soil (50-60 cm). In order not to root the root collar, watering is carried out in a recess (groove) around the circumference of the crown projection or by sprinkling. After irrigation, the mandatory procedure is the cultivation of row-spacings.
