Sergey Bobrovsky: biography and personal life

Sergey Bobrovsky was born in Novokuznetsk on September 20, 1988. Seryozha’s parents are not at all connected with professional sports (his father worked at the mine for many years, and his mother worked at the metallurgical plant), but they always liked to participate in various sports events.

Hockey school

Sergey was an energetic child from the very youngest age, and therefore his parents had no doubt that their child would engage in any kind of sport. That is why it was decided to send Seryozha to a school with a sports bias, where students not only learned the basics of science, but also seriously engaged in hockey. At that time, such famous hockey players as Dmitry Orlov, Sergey Zinoviev and Maxim Kitsyn began with this educational institution. As Alexei Kitsyn, the first coach of Bobrovsky, recalls, that year about a hundred people got into the hockey class, and therefore he noticed Sergei only a couple of months after the training began. Bobrovsky grasped everything literally on the fly, he quickly learned to ride and even then his leadership qualities were noticeable .

Goalkeeper career

Sergei Bobrovsky is a hockey player who, for sure, could become a good defender or striker. However, fate decreed otherwise. When Seryozha was in first grade, the team goalkeeper became seriously ill and, not knowing who to replace him with, the coach asked volunteers. Bobrovsky expressed a desire, which predetermined his future.

In the life of a very young boy, hockey took first place. Sergei Bobrovsky, thanks to the support and help of his parents, who took his son's hobby very seriously, continued to engage in this sport after graduation.

For the Metallurg team

Bobrovsky Sergey became a pupil of the hockey team "Metallurg" in Novokuznetsk. In the first team, he made his debut at the age of eighteen (in the 2006-2007 season), having successfully played several matches. In the following season, Sergey went to the ice much more often, demonstrating his skills to the team and fans. However, this did not help Metallurg improve the statistics of the games, and the regression of the team continued. The defense of the outsider gates is, of course, languid and unpromising, but thanks to this, Bobrovsky quickly gained experience. Sergey played for Metallurg until 2010, until his contract expired.

Start in the NHL

In May 2010, Sergei Bobrovsky, whose biography is interesting and fascinating, signed a 3-year contract with the Philadelphia Flyers team. Peter Lavioletta, Flyers mentor, decided to put Bobrovsky in the opening match of the season, in a game with Pittsburgh. The Russian lived up to all expectations. The star attack of the hosts was inconclusive. Sergey successfully repelled about 30 shots in his own goal and brought such an important victory for the team.

In 14 matches, the young hockey player scored 11 victories, making him the best rookie of the month. However, the lack of experience nevertheless made itself felt, and Bobrovsky did not play very well in the playoffs.

In the summer of 2011, Philadelphia signed a multi-million dollar contract with Ilya Bryzgalov, the Russian goalkeeper. As a result, two goalkeepers remained in the main team - Bobrovsky and Bryzgalov. However, more and more often it was Ilya who went out onto the ice, and Sergey sat out on the bench. So, out of 14 matches, he took part in only 4.
