Sprint Run: Race with the Wind

The Olympic track and field program includes 24 types of male and 23 types of female disciplines. Athletes are the largest team at the Olympics. But in athletics there are unique competitions at distances of 100 and 200 meters - this is sprinting.

The race in such competitions lasts (at a high level) a little more than 10 seconds - this is more than one hundredths of a second, and the world achievement in running 100 meters is less than 10 seconds. for 0.48 seconds. The average person during this time will have time to take a breath, exhale, such is sprinting. Athletes need a little more time to overcome the two-hundred-meter distance: high-class runners overcome it in 20 seconds, +/- 0.30 sec. These are fascinating short-lived competitions that require special, fantastic physical and moral-volitional efforts.

sprinting

The sprinting technique makes exceptional demands on the physical fitness of athletes. An important condition for success in such a discipline as sprinting is the makings inherent in man by nature. For sprinters, this is primarily the ability to have a high frequency of leg movements: the speed of a complex and simple reaction in such people is significantly higher than the average people on Earth. But without the ability to focus on the actions performed, without the ability to disconnect from all external signals (only the judge at the start), it is impossible to achieve high results in the sprint.

track and field sprint
The sprinting of athletes running 100/200 meters differs from the running technique of middle-aged men and styers. The stride length is 2 times greater than that of styers, the frequency of movements is incredibly high, and coordinated hand movements help control your body. Unnecessary and unreasonable movements are excluded here: even after starting, athletes run in a half-inclined (body at an angle of 45 degrees) position of 15-20 m - thus, by artificially holding their center of gravity of the body, athletes can quickly gain maximum speed. Having gained speed, they straighten and rush to the finish line at maximum speed . Sprinting requires athletes, in addition to speed-power efforts, also a high frequency of leg movements. Highly qualified athletes are able to do up to 5.5 steps per second, for which they overcome about 11 meters of distance.
sprinting technique

In running for 200 meters, an athlete, in addition to speed qualities, will need the ability to resist fatigue or speed endurance. Technique, if it differs in anything, is only a purposeful run along a rounded treadmill with the body tilted to the left, to keep the athlete at a distance.

And what an indescribable atmosphere reigns over the stadium when relay teams 4x100m go to the start! What spectators will see later will be remembered by them for a long time: relay sticks flickering in their hands, coordinated actions of runners from one team, incredible speed and intensity of sports action.

The claim that the queen of sports is athletics, the sprint confirms with its royal influence on the whole world of sports.
