Lüder Rothenberg, a former very good architect, coordinated his efforts with brewer Heinrich Beck and sales agent Thomas May and founded the imperial manufactory. The company was named Becks and May. In 1874 and 1876, beer was first awarded very prestigious prizes in Germany, after which the founders decided to expand to other trading floors.
