What are safe dreadlocks?

Today, dreadlocks are considered a very original and popular hairstyle. Moreover, both men and women wear them. But what if you do not want to sacrifice the health of your hair? For this purpose, the so-called safe dreadlocks were invented. Thus, people have the opportunity to surprise others with a non-standard sense of style and, at the same time, preserve the natural beauty and strength of the hair.

A Brief History of Hairstyles

Despite the general opinion, dreadlocks are not just a youth hairstyle, but a real tradition, rooted in ancient times. For example, such a hairstyle could be seen among Indian hermits, refusing contacts with the outside world. Their hair grew and naturally weaved without the use of combs and shampoos.

But among the tribes of Jamaica, where, in fact, the fashion for this very original hairstyle came from, dreadlocks are part of religious traditions. Ancient legends say that at the end of the world, God Jah will reach out from heaven and carry all believers up, grabbing dreadlocks.

Of course, when such hairstyles first appeared on the streets of America and Europe, they were immediately given the name dreadlocks, which means “terrifying curls”. But, despite such a loud description, the fashion for natural and safe dreadlocks grew. In the end, they became another way of expressing self and preferences.

Natural dreadlocks are formed in a natural way - without combs, shampoos and conditioners, the hair gets tangled up. And in order to become the owner of the original hairstyle, you only need to help a little, using wax, gel and other cosmetics to fix the tangles. But here it is unlikely to return the hair to its former state.

That is why safe dreadlocks are becoming increasingly popular. They are not woven from their own hair, but from an artificial material called kanekalon. Then, using a special technique, the master attaches the "curls" to natural hair.

Safe dreadlocks and their varieties

All artificial curls are made of kanekalon. But they are usually divided into several types:

  • Classic safe dreadlocks - they are the first artificial curls. The technology here is quite simple - the master makes blanks, and then weaves them into the client’s hair. Such dreadlocks look voluminous, but actually very light and comfortable to wear.
  • Two-pointed dreadlocks - such blanks are woven into the hair, starting from the middle of the artificial curl. Thus, the result is immediately two free ends.
  • Ja-dreadlocks - today they are the most popular among young people. These are thin, woven strands of Kanekalon, which outwardly only remotely resemble traditional dreadlocks.

In fact, the use of artificial curls makes it possible to experiment with color and length. For example, safe dreadlocks (photo) and their bright combinations are presented below. The use of multi-colored strands is to some extent considered even an art.

Safe dreadlocks and care rules

Artificial curls do not need any special care - it will be enough to wash your hair only once a week.

It is worth noting that safe dreadlocks have a "shelf life". They can be worn for 2-3 months. After this period, you must either register with the master for correction, or remove artificial strands.
