The natural park is located in Adler, in the Imereti Lowland. This is a special, strictly protected natural zone, which was created by the decree of the Governor of the Krasnodar Territory No. 678 of 08/10/2010.

The construction of various Olympic venues began on the territory of the Imereti Lowland, and its landscape has changed significantly. However, the places on which the ornithological park in Adler was located were untouched.

The natural park has an area of almost 299 hectares. Fourteen special biosphere clusters are equipped on its territory. They have various types of landscapes. For instance:

  • Lakes with shallow shores and shallow waters.
  • Wastelands and deposits with herbs and bushes.
  • Wetland with drainage channels.
  • Park areas with decorative vegetation.
  • Foothills and floodplain forests.

Despite the fact that the entire territory of the Imereti Lowland was used for household needs, it was possible to keep a huge part of the area untouched.

Demonstration Aviary

About 184 bird species nest in the park, some of which are listed in the Red Book of the Russian Federation and Krasnodar Territory. Also, these places are attractive for migratory and wintering birds. Throughout the year, the park is visited by a large number of residents and visitors who come here in order to plunge into the wild.

It is worth noting that only one (seventh) cluster of the ornithological park in Adler is open for visiting. Here you can observe different species of birds in their natural habitat. The demonstration cluster is open to visitors all year round. In winter - from 9:00 to 18:00, and in summer - from 9:00 to 20:00. A distinctive feature of the park is that the entrance to its territory is completely free.

Demonstration Zone

The territory of the demonstration cluster is completely fenced off from the rest. This is done for the comfort of the inhabitants of the park. The zone has a flat topography and covers an area of almost thirteen hectares. Natural vegetation and soil cover was not preserved, in connection with this, soil had to be brought from neighboring sites. The cluster has a park landscape with shrubby and woody vegetation, a network of paths and lawns of various sizes.

Pond in a demonstration cluster

There are three aviaries with birds and three specially equipped feeding areas. In the seventh cluster there is an utility room and toilets for visitors to the park. There was preserved a large lake, the banks of which are surrounded by weeping willows and alder.

The population density of birds in this area is quite high; at different times of the year, about 150 species of birds are found.

Conclusion

The seventh cluster is not only demonstration and exposition, but also scientific and experimental. While tourists enjoy the beauty of these places and the variety of birds, bird watchers conduct research activities.

White swans

Numerous guests of the reserve take advantage of this, taking pictures against the backdrop of a beautiful landscape and taking pictures of various birds. Many birds are already accustomed to a large number of people and attention from them, they fly up at a fairly close distance, and some even eat from their hands.
