Kurgan belongs to those regional centers of Russia that are not at all associated with tourism. This is not Vladimir, Pskov or Yekaterinburg. However, in Kurgan it is quite possible to spend a weekend and see local attractions. Where to go in the mound? It depends on the interests of the person, someone likes cafes, and someone likes museums and theaters.
Barrow Museums
Most museums in the city are located in the center, near the station. Of the distant museums it is worth noting the following:
- Aviation on the street Gagarina, 41 in the east of the city.
- "Tsarevo hillfort" - st. Constitution, 28 in the west of the city, on the banks of Tobol.

You can start the inspection from the local history museum, which is located on 137 Pushkin Street. Its exposition tells about the history of this relative young region of Russia, because the oldest cities in the region were founded in the 17th century, on average 500 years younger than Moscow.
From it, along Volodarsky Street, you should go to Tobol and visit three more museums along the way: the Decembrists on ul. Klimova, d. 80; the history of the city on Kuibyshev, d. 59 and Kuchelbecker on Kuibyshev, d. 19. In general, a good combination, because not every city in Russia has two museums on the theme of the Decembrists.
Art lovers can go to the regional art museum on the street. Gorky, house 129.
Cultural Places
In the city center there are several parks with monuments and memorials. Youth Park at the intersection of st. Kuibyshev and Savelyev contains on their territory the ice palace "Youth".
Not far from the Decembrists Museum, on Trinity Square, there is a philharmonic society, in the territory of the City Garden (the intersection of Lenin and Gogol St.) - the regional drama theater.
South of the station are Victory Park and TsPKiO on the island, where a children's railway operates in summer.
Catering Kurgan - cafe "Gorky" and other institutions
You may want to eat somewhere while walking around the mound.
Not far from the station, on Sorge street, the Mamma Mia establishment is located. As the name implies, it serves mainly Italian cuisine. Prices are different, you can have a budget snack for 120 rubles, for example, pollock with mashed potatoes or a portion of ravioli.
Of the more expensive:
- Pizza weighing from 250 grams and at a price of 200 rubles.

- Salmon steak.
Not far from this place is located the Georgian restaurant "Marani". There are often various parties and events. The choice of dishes is large, for lunch you can order lunch from 300 rubles.
Of the inexpensive establishments in the center of Kurgan, it is worth noting the pancake “Chugunok”. It is open from 9am to 10pm. Guests are served not only pancakes, but also typical dishes for the dining room.
Gorky Cafe in Kurgan is suitable for events and for a regular dinner. It is located between the City Garden and Rosen Garden, as well as next to the university buildings, the symbolic zero kilometer and the waterfront. It is open from 11am to 11pm on weekdays and until 1am on weekends. The cuisine in it combines the traditions of Europe and Asia. For example, the menu includes 5 Italian soups, borscht hodgepodge, Japanese miso and Thai soups.
