These original devices appeared almost ten years ago. For a long time they were produced without significant changes in design. What is this device
The first electronic cigarette was launched in 2003 by Ryan (China). However, commercial designs intended for sale appeared much later (in 2008).
The name of this device does not reflect the essence of what an electronic cigarette consists of. It would be more correct to call it an electric inhaler, because it acts according to the same principles - it “sprays” the liquid into steam.
A classic electronic cigarette consists of a battery, a liquid cartridge, and an vaporizer. Batteries are manufactured using the latest Li-Ion technology. The main parameters of the batteries in these devices are their capacity, measured in mA / h, as well as the operating voltage.
The size of the cigarette depends on the size of the battery. From operating voltage - the amount of steam created by the evaporator. Most often, their output power is 3.7 V, this value is now the "standard". However, there are batteries that change the output power.
Source of power
A device that supplies voltage to the evaporator. It can be collapsible and non-collapsible factory batteries of various formats, battery packs equipped with replaceable batteries varivolts, mechmodes, raznovolty and more. For the power source , two characteristics are important - the ability to adjust the voltage and dimensions.
Electronic cigarette vaporizer
This device, in which the voltage supplied from the power source, enters directly into the spiral with resistance. As a result, it heats up. The liquid entering the spiral is “sprayed” (evaporates). This element contains a supply of fluid. And, of course, blowing (air flow to the spiral).
The vaporizer for an electronic cigarette, depending on the design, may be different. Of the currently existing design solutions, the following are significant:
- the implementation of blowing;
- fluid storage;
- feeding it to the spiral (this may be the only wick that is responsible for feeding and evaporating, or separately the wick of the spiral and the feeding wick).
Two important characteristics must be taken into account: the size and serviceability of the evaporator.
Based on the size, the vaporizer for an electronic cigarette can be classified as follows:
- Diameter no more than 9 mm. They are used in devices that are most reminiscent of “ordinary” cigarettes with a diameter of not more than 14 mm. This is an eGo format (eGo is a type of electronic cigarette from Joyetech, a Chinese manufacturer). This is the most popular size.
- 16-17 mm is the average size. These vaporizers are also popular, but they are produced much less.
- Diameter 20 mm. Also considered an “inter-format” size. Such an e-cigarette vaporizer is already significantly larger than the “average”.
- Diameter 22–23 mm. Today, this size is another “standard” (like the eGo-format). At the same time, eGo-format usually contains maintenance-free, sometimes semi-maintenance evaporators. Most of these models have a diameter of 22–23 mm.
- Sometimes there are samples with a diameter of more than 23 mm, but this is very rare. They are made for use in devices with equally powerful power supplies. They are quite large, heavy and not very convenient to operate. But they are also used.
To assess the usability of the common sizes of evaporators, as well as power supplies, you can make this comparison:
- The eGo format (14 mm) feels like a generic fountain pen;
- a device of 22–23 mm format can be compared with the thickness of the handles of kitchen utensils (ladles and other things).
An equally important criterion when buying this device is the availability of the ability to service the vaporizer for an electronic cigarette. More recently, the bulk of these elements have been maintenance free. In other words, you buy a device, use it for a short time, and then simply throw it away.
Serviced are devices in which the user can rewind the vaporizer of an electronic cigarette (spiral + wick). This is more troublesome, but allows you to improve the characteristics (amount of steam, taste, etc.) of the devices used.
It is equally important that such devices can be rather easily serviced in intervals when a cigarette needs to change windings (burn, rinse wicks and spirals).
What does a semi-serviced evaporator mean

Evaporator Types
Today, there are several types of evaporators (atomizers) that manufacturers offer:
- A somewhat outdated model is an atomizer with a cartridge. Such technology is almost never used.
- The kartomizer on syntepon was very popular. A synthetic winterizer is used to manufacture a container in such samples, this eliminates the likelihood of fluid leakage. But, unfortunately, such models will not last long. This, you see, is a significant drawback.
- Tankerisers are not very practical, as they often leak.

Evaporator Cleaning
Each owner of this device is faced with a problem when his evaporator begins to produce much less steam. Well, when it is possible to replace the vaporizer in an electronic cigarette. And if such a function is not provided? Is it really just left to throw away the device? How to clean the vaporizer of an electronic cigarette? It turns out that this is not very difficult. Moreover, there are several ways to clean the vaporizer of an electronic cigarette.
Do not immediately seek to perform any complex operations. Start simple. Try to regularly remove excess fluid. Such a simple procedure will help extend the life of the evaporator between cleanings. Remove the cartridge from the cigarette at night and leave it on a lint-free cloth in an upright position.
If during smoking you hear a characteristic squelching sound, do not be alarmed. You just need to unscrew the case and pull the evaporator out of the automizer base. Look at its “back” part, marked with a yellow stripe. On it you will see the remains of the liquid. You will see the same picture on the central contact of the battery. Wipe off excess fluid thoroughly with a regular cloth. Then assemble the device.
Evaporator Repair
If, after cleaning the evaporator, you still smell burning, then it needs to be repaired. It is better to do this in a specialized workshop serving your model. But if this is not possible, then try to repair the electronic cigarette vaporizer yourself.
Remove the center wick holder. At the point of contact with the spiral, you will most likely see that it is burnt. Rinse and dry the evaporator well. Use a piece of jewelry to remove the damaged area and lower the wick deeper. After this, assemble the device, soak in liquid.
