How to make grape wine at home

In ancient times, in Egypt, wine was used instead of any other drinks: there were no refrigerators then, pasteurization had not yet been invented, so juices and even water in a hot climate quickly deteriorated. In order not to get drunk, the wine was diluted strongly with water: to be more precise, a certain amount of wine was added to the water so that it would not deteriorate.

Grapes have excellent taste, healing and nutritional qualities - it is not for nothing that the ancient Greeks called it solar nectar. Among other things, grapes not only contain vitamins, but also in the process of fermentation acquires new beneficial substances. It is used by doctors to treat and prevent many diseases: for example, doctors prescribe small doses of wine to people with unstable pressure and anemia; it also helps to improve appetite. Many today make grape wine at home, because it is known that 100 grams of such a drink consumed daily removes all radionuclides from the body, so it is very useful, for example, for those who work in nuclear power plants.

How to make grape wine at home?

There is nothing particularly complicated to prepare: the process consists of only two main stages - the collection and preparation of berries and, in fact, fermentation.

Initially, it is necessary to remove the berries from the bunches and sort them out, separating the rotten, wormy and spoiled berries so that they do not get into the future wine. Otherwise, the drink will have an unpleasant smell and taste.

If the berries are not covered with dust and do not have other impurities, there is no need to wash them: the skin on its surface has bacteria that will have a beneficial effect on the fermentation process. If the grapes are washed, then it will go a little worse.

Then comes the crush of berries. In ancient times, grapes were crushed with their feet - now this method is also often used. You can also use it, just remember to wash your feet thoroughly - unlike existing bacteria, outsiders are not needed for the drink. It is not necessary to make grape wine at home in compliance with ancient traditions, so you can safely use a juicer or a special crush for berries. It is important that each berry is flattened. A large metal pan, better enameled, is quite suitable as a container. After - with the help of gauze or a colander, separate the cake from the juice.

Now you can either make grape juice or make grape wine at home. To make juice, you just need to add sugar to the mass obtained from the crush and boil it well, then roll it into the bottle. Keep in mind that the product will be concentrated, so it will have to be diluted with water.

Grapevine at home: the final stage

In order to cook it, you will need a special container - these are 10 or 20-liter bottles. They need to be filled by two-thirds, since fermentation leads to an increase in the volume of wort.

Pour juice into the bottles, seal them with polypropylene caps, after making holes in them, into which insert the plastic tubes (carbon dioxide generated during the fermentation process will be discharged through them). The holes with the tubes must be covered with plasticine or wax, while the other end should be lowered into a container of water: oxygen will be prevented from entering the bottle, otherwise it can negatively affect the taste of the drink, disrupting the fermentation process.

After the bottle, it is best to place it in the cellar or basement for two or three months, checking about how everything goes about once a week. After the specified time, grape wine at home (with a strength of about five degrees) will be ready.
