Walks in Moscow: Luzhniki Park

In our country, great attention has always been paid to physical education and sports. Sport is not only elite, but also mass, as well as the recovery of residents of the country and its capital, Moscow. One of the most significant in this area of activity of the Moscow authorities is rightfully considered the Luzhniki park. This is one of the favorite vacation spots of citizens. For the convenience of communication, it was built near the Luzhniki metro park.

Start is given!

1952 was the year for the Soviet Union when dreams come true, hopes are born. Victories of Soviet athletes at the Olympics were unexpected and inspiring. On their wave, the government decided to popularize sports in the country and actively mass train high-level athletes so as not to stop there. But the main problem was not the human factor, but the household one - there was no proper quality of the stadiums where young athletes could fully train. In this regard, it was decided to build a new modern sports complex. And the special interest in football in the country made its own corrections - it was decided that such a complex would be a stadium equipped with advanced technologies of that time. For the object, a place was chosen near Moscow, where the small village of Luzhniki was located. Construction work began in 1955.

Place history

Spacious meadows spread over a rather large area beyond the ring railway in the southeast of the capital.

By the beginning of the construction there still existed a village called Luzhniki and Trinity Church. The first mention of the area in the annals dates back to the 15th century, and in the 17th century. the church of the Holy Trinity was erected here.

Where did the name of the area come from, you ask. Perhaps this toponym arose on a natural basis. Luzhniki was demolished over time. The Trinity Church was not spared.

A corner of dreams and hopes

A little over a year later the stadium was built. It opened with a friendly football match with the Chinese team. And next on its territory was the Spartakiad of the peoples of the USSR. Here records were set and victories were achieved, which were the dream of Soviet athletes.

Summer sports day of the peoples of the USSR

Spartakiads began to be held here constantly and opened up new names. Athletes who have clearly shown themselves at these sports events won in European and world championships, justifying the hopes of friends and relatives, coaches and the government. In the same year, the Small Arena and the Sports Palace, a swimming pool and a training complex for athletes were built near the stadium. Under the stands equipped a hotel and training facilities, restaurants and cafes. And a year later, during the Festival of Youth and Students, - the Museum of Sports.

Around the complex were planted trees and shrubs, paved paths for pedestrians. Therefore, this place is not just a group of sports facilities, but the Luzhniki sports park, where residents of the capital came not only for competitions and for sports, but also for recreation and recreation.

The brightest event

Of course, we will talk about the Olympics, memorable to all Muscovites of the 80s. The opening and closing of which took place at the Luzhniki stadium. According to ancient tradition, the Olympic torch was delivered to Moscow from Greece from Mount Olympus by torchbearers - titled athletes. The last torch was carried by Olympic champion athlete V. Saneev, and Olympic champion S. Belov lit the fire.

Olympics 80. Luzhniki

The host of the 1980 Olympics was a cute clubfoot Bear with five Olympic rings on his chest. To the surprisingly touching and nagging piercing song of A. Pakhmutova and N. Dobronravova, performed by Lev Leshchenko and Tatyana Antsiferova, Mishka, mounted on a bouquet of balloons, soared into the bright blue sky above the Luzhniki Stadium. The instrumental ensemble "Flame" helped in recording the song. And I. Tumanov staged the entire ceremony.

And then what

When the collapse of the Soviet Union began, a tough time came for Luzhniki. At first they used it as an open-air concert hall where foreign and domestic rock stars and jazz kings Bon Jovi, Ozzi Osbourne, Skid Row, Scorpions, Victor Tsoi, Michael Jackson gathered a huge number of listeners. After privatization by the private sector, a market was opened here. But concerts and football meetings continued to be held at the Luzhniki Stadium, no matter what.

Thanks to Moscow Mayor Yu. Luzhkov, the reconstruction of the stadium began in 1995: the seats were replaced, the roof was installed, digital displays were installed, and the rooms under the stands were modernized. Three years later, the World Youth Games were already held here, and a year later - the first final of the Eurocup in football.

Luzhniki Stadium

The modernization of the Luzhniki stadium and sports park continued. Since 2002, an artificial lawn has appeared, which is regularly being improved in our time. And the stadium was returned to its true purpose, returning the status of the main sports complex of the country. A huge number of green spaces were planted, pedestrian paths were improved, paths for cyclists were laid.

How to get to the Luzhniki park? Yes, very simple - on the subway. Luzhniki are waiting for their guests and are always happy to see them!
