History Information

Tequila Herradura has a wonderful history of its origin. In 1880, Don Jose Feliciano bought a colonial estate (hacienda). It was located in the Amatitan Valley, in the Mexican state of Jalisco. In the vicinity of the hacienda, only the best varieties of blue agave were grown. Thus, the idea came up to organize a family business for the production of tequila. The first owners of the enterprise decided not to spend money on the acquisition of a state permit for the distribution of alcohol. Because of this, tequila could not boast of a vast market.

But everything changed at a time when the son of Don Jose Aurelio Lopez Rosales took control of the company. He was an excellent host and even better tequilero. Thanks to the modernization of technological processes, production has reached a whole new level. According to legend, once Rosales in the vicinity of his possessions found a horseshoe sparkling in the sun, like an ingot of gold. The family took the find as a good sign and decided to name their company Herradura. So Teraquila Herradura appeared.

Horseshoe began to be used as a company emblem of the enterprise. The mark was registered in 1928. After Mexico was subjected to social and revolutionary upheaval, the owner of the company had to flee the state. Family business management was taken over by cousin Aurelio David Rosales.

Characteristics of Alcohol

Today, the Herradura tequila factory is owned by Grupo Industrial Herradura. This manufacturer, among other things, also owns blue agave plantations, which are located in the states of Nayarit and Jalisco (Mexico). Only here, on red-brown soils enriched with iron, a special grade agave is grown, which is the basis for the manufacture of premium Mexican spirits. The unique characteristics of the Herradura tequila variety are explained by the fact that it is made from the best variety of agave.

Features of the variety of this drink also consist in the fact that the composition of its distillers contains alcohol, which is made only from blue agave. It does not contain alcohols from corn or cane, nor does it contain any aromatic or flavoring additives. Product strength reaches 40%.

Massive bottles with a capacity of 0.7 liters each have an elongated neck. The container is made of thick glass. The shape of the vessels resembles a glass, narrowed down. In Mexico, just from such utensils it is customary to drink strong alcoholic drinks.

The front side of each bottle has a real horseshoe made of metal. It is used instead of the standard label and is the company logo. As already mentioned, this talisman of luck has become the name for one of the most successful alcohol brands in the world.
