History
The founder of the club is Luigi Ridolfi. With the active participation of this man in 1926 there was a merger of two small Florentine teams - Libertas and Firenze. And so the Fiorentina football club was formed. Initially, he performed in the lowest divisions. However, after three seasons, the team managed to break into the elite Italian championship.
The first serious triumph occurred in 1941 - “Violets” won the national cup. In the fifties of the last century, they were constantly in the leading positions in the national championship. At that time, many talented players shone as part of the team, including Francesco Rosetta, Giuliano Sarti and others.
For the first time in its history, the club won the Scudetto in the 1955/1956 season, ahead of its closest pursuer (AC Milan) by 12 points. Five years later, the team became a triumph in the international arena, when it won the Cup Winners Cup. In 1969, Violets for the second and so far last time won the national championship.
In subsequent seasons, their game was not stable. As a result, the team could first take a high place in the final standings, and next year fight for survival. In 1990, she made it to the final of the UEFA Cup, but lost in it with a score of 3-1 to another representative of Italy - Juventus.
At the turn of the century
A serious failure overtook the Fiorentina football club in 1993. Then the team failed the season and flew to the lower division. After Claudio Ranieri was invited to the post of head coach, the Violets returned to Serie A. In 1996, they finished third in the standings and won the country's cup. Five years later, due to major economic problems, the club was declared bankrupt. Almost immediately after that, in August 2002, businessman Diego Della Valle bought all the property of Fiorentina and revived it under another name - Florence Viola. The team played in the C2 Series division and returned to the big leagues for the 2003/2004 season. Here she began to perform under the former, familiar to fans name “Fiorentina”.

In 2013, Della Valle announced the start of a new era in the history of the team. In particular, the club president noted his willingness to invest heavily in its development.
