Very often, due to the large amount of data, you need to split the PDF file, for example, for copying to removable media or sending via e-mail. Below are a few basic methods.
How to split a pdf file: what to use?
First, let's define a possible list of tools. You should immediately pay attention to the fact that in no program designed to view this format, you can’t split a PDF file into several components. Therefore, they are called viewers to only show and not edit content.
In the simplest version, you can split the PDF file using the appropriate editors. Naturally, it is best to use "native" Adobe applications (for example, Adobe Acrobat Pro of any version, but not Acrobat Reader, since these are two completely different programs).
Other developers' products are also great, although they have fewer features. In extreme cases, if you do not want to engage in such processes yourself, it is easiest to turn to specialized online resources that allow you to perform such operations.
A way to split a PDF using Adobe editors
As an example, consider the Adobe Acrobat XI Pro editor. To select the tools necessary for working with an open document, you need to go to the viewing menu.
Here, first select the tool section, and then the pages menu (an additional panel will automatically appear in the right part of the main window). Next, in the menu, select the “Separate document” line and indicate the criteria for the operation.
There can be three:
- number of pages;
- top bookmarking
- size of the final file.
Choosing one option, you just need to confirm the separation. In addition, using the output options, you can specify the folder in which the divided files will be saved, and when using the split command for several files, you will need to add them to the list and confirm the operation.
Using third-party programs
PDF files can also be split using applications like PDF Splitter, Foxit PhantomPDF, PDF Split and Merge or similar.
They also choose their own separation criteria, however, the options and settings here are much smaller. You can even use the Chrome browser, which displays print output and indicates the desired range of pages, if you go to the settings of local storage locations.
Online resources
Finally, if you don’t have the right program at hand or just don’t want to do it manually, you can go to any specialized site where you will be prompted to add the file (s) to the list, and then activate the start of the process. The advantage of such services is that you can even add files from cloud storage such as Dropbox, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and many others.
