In late July, Microsoft held an unprecedented action - announced the release of a completely new generation of Windows operating systems in the form of the tenth version. As stated, the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (or from the "eight") is completely free. Nobody expected this, of course. With the cost of past packages ranging from $ 50 for the starter version to $ 330 for an advanced or professional one, such a step on the part of the developer may seem somewhat incomprehensible to many. But there is a point in this - direct marketing of the promotion of primary and secondary products on the market. This is especially true for universal game consoles, which should be fully compatible with the new system.
Windows 10: what's new?
We note immediately: the “ten” has become much more energetic in terms of servicing their own and third-party applications. True, it is doubtful that the exit from the hibernation regime is too long .
This is due only to the fact that during installation the user logs on to the official Microsoft website, after which it is almost impossible to change the login to the system with a password if you have a direct Internet connection. The point here is that after updating Windows 7 to 10, registration and account creation are initially required. As already understood, the user logs into the system, and Windows 10 is loaded in normal mode on his behalf. You can delete the "account", but only after submitting an application on the same site. Execution - 60 days.
On the other hand, the Edge Internet browser is an innovation, replacing the familiar Internet Explorer. By the way, he is very closely connected with the intellectual assistant. If you look at loading the system or exiting sleep mode, you can immediately notice that a pull-down menu appears on the screen, and many simply do not like it.
In addition, programs are sorted alphabetically, not by category, as was the case in earlier versions.
The interface is somewhat similar to the "eight." It makes no difference whether you use the computer, laptop or tablet mode, it doesn’t change much. The standard scheme looks more than simple - no volumetric elements. Even everyone’s favorite transparent or translucent panel of the "seven" is missing here.
But design is not the main thing. Here the emphasis was placed on integration with multimedia devices such as the Xbox (there is a window even in the main menu). But the return of the “Start” button, which was absent in versions such as Windows 8.1, should please all users. Of course, this is not all new. To change Windows 7 to Windows 10 or not, this is the business of every user. Most interestingly, Microsoft has provided absolutely all web users with a means of loading a new operating system, as well as methods to return to their original state.
Should I upgrade Windows 7 to 10?
This issue is crucial for users of Windows 7 and 8. For example, changing Windows 7 to Windows 10 is not difficult, but the new functionality may seem clearly incomprehensible. Now we will focus on the main differences of the new system in terms of calling, using, closing and deleting applications.
New dozens in the program plan
I must say that regarding the impact of viruses or malicious executable codes contained in files when downloading applications or simply using the Internet, the “dozen” has quite powerful protection tools.
As recognized by all experts, the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 is accompanied by the replacement of the firewall (firewall). Its settings are changed automatically, not only during re-installation, but also when installing the system in a clean "form. In addition, the firewall itself in the "top ten" works a little differently and does not block unwanted sites, but only potentially dangerous ones.
The usual option for accessing functions
Now a few words about access to the main programs and functions. Based on the fact that the first update of Windows 7 should take place, the transition to Windows 10 without this is simply impossible.
Among other things, the same system administration or calling specific functions from the command line may contain other parameters. However, this does not particularly affect the system itself. But the appearance of the classic start menu should please absolutely everyone.
Switch to tablet mode
This is what the developers have perfectly foreseen, as it is a really quick change of access in several modes, especially if it concerns changing users or simplifying the settings of the same touchscreen.
This is done elementarily, and when changing operating modes, a system reboot is not required, as was sometimes the case in Windows 8.1.
Search for Updates
The essence of the issue of switching to the “top ten” from the “seven” initially is to install the Windows 7 update. The transition to Windows 10 can be carried out only after applying this procedure.
Separately, it is worth saying that, although it was stated that for the “dozens” updates or upgraded modules will not be released, the system looks with enviable regularity on the official Microsoft website. At the same time, automatic updating of the system does not always work, especially when the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 was carried out not using a specialized utility, but in the standby mode of the distribution download queue and the subsequent update.
Problems with installed applications
As for the installed programs, we must pay tribute to the developers of the "dozens" - they work without problems. The only thing that causes some doubts is the behavior of antiviruses.
Unfortunately, even such powerful utilities as Eset Smart Security, when Windows 10 starts automatically, load system resources in terms of maximum access to the hard drive, the percentage of which can reach 99-100%. Because of this, for about fifteen minutes, a computer or laptop may not respond to user requests at all, although it was originally stated that in order to change Windows 7 to Windows 10, the old configuration in the form of a 2-core processor with a frequency of at least 1 is enough 2 GHz and 2 GB of RAM. This is a big plus, since the new system in its 64-bit version allows you to maximize the use of each core of aging processor platforms.
Official update from Microsoft
As already mentioned, the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10 without updating the "seven" to a full update is impossible.
First, the user, even with the automatic update mode turned on, must search in manual mode. After they are installed and registered on the Microsoft website in the system tray, provided that they are constantly connected to the Network, a notification icon will appear that the user has been queued for update. When the time comes, the installation system activates itself.
But here is the difficulty. Even with automatic settings, the system does not always update in the background. Even from the standard “Control Panel”, such a function cannot be called. However, there is a way out.
When you enter the menu, called by right-clicking on the “This Computer” icon, which replaced the “My Computer” icon, there is a special field in the system properties in the lower left corner of the screen that activates the launch of the update system. As soon as the necessary components are found, Windows 10 will install them and then reboot.
Additional utility
Waiting for the queue for installing the “dozens” seems to many a very boring thing. In principle, you can do without it.
On the same official Microsoft site there is a small utility called Microsoft Media Creation Tool. It has absolutely nothing to do with media, and it is somewhat unclear why the developers called it that. Nevertheless, having downloaded it (and it takes only 36 Mb in the unpacked form), you can start the update process.
Immediately be prepared for the fact that to download all the installation components and create a backup of the same "seven" you need at least 19 GB of free disk space, or even more. Then simply follow the instructions (in this case, it means installing a new OS on top of an existing one).
How to remove the upgrade to Windows 10 in Windows 7?
Now we come close to the question of the appropriateness of installing the tenth version of Windows. In principle, the developer himself offers a rollback solution, if for some reason the user does not like the “ten”.
Here you can use the system recovery section from the already installed “tens”, where there will be a rollback point to the “seven”. If you use the standard methods of cleaning the disk or removing the Windows installation components in order to increase the free space on the hard drive, rollback will become impossible. So think a hundred times whether to change Windows 7 to Windows 10.
What is the choice?
Speaking unambiguously in favor of one or another "OS" in this case is not necessary. Both are good. "Seven" is easier. In the "top ten" will have to get used to the new menu. A simple example: if you don’t know that the Run menu is called up by Win + R, you will look for it in the original Start menu for a very long time, just like the Control Panel itself.
Even the "Task Manager" does not always display all active processes when called (similar to Windows 8).
In general, if you still make the transition from Windows 7 to Windows 10, no critical changes will occur on the computer. Moreover, all applications installed in the "seven" will work as if nothing had happened. Another thing is that installing new programs can cause some problems, although support at the level of server versions such as Windows NT Server is still claimed.
There is one more point. It is believed that the tenth version of Windows received more simplified settings for connections over a local network or the Internet. Indeed, the user does not particularly need to understand this, but here is the exclusive tracking of the user when visiting some pages on the Internet, tracking the location of the terminal, etc. enabled by default. The user is not always aware of this, and his data and browser history are sent to Microsoft statistics. It would seem that only recently the scandal with the Google Chrome browser has ended, and Microsoft is stepping on the same rake.
Well, then everyone decides for himself how to replace Windows 7 with Windows 10, whether to use the new modification or abandon it. Here it is only necessary to build on the fact that it is impossible to “tear down” the desired configuration of the “seven”. That's all. As already clear, if you delete such information, a return to the initial state of the "seven" will be impossible. Yes, and the installation distribution "dozens" must be removed very carefully. If it was involved, it is not a fact that it has not made any critical changes to the system files, and they can have the same name, but fundamentally differ in the structure and principle of interaction between the system, the hardware and the user.
