Liven breed of pigs was bred in the Oryol region of the Russian Federation, in the Liven state nursery by crossing local long-eared, late-ripening with precocious sebaceous and meat-bearing breeds. To obtain Livennian, medium white, large white snub-nosed type, Berkshire, large white and Polish-Chinese were used. During the breeding, young animals were selected for further breeding.

Piglets of the Lebanese breed of pigs are born large and strong, with excellent immunity, high survival rate. They quickly gain weight: in a day they are able to add up to 800 grams of live weight without a special fattening diet. Thus, by the age of six months, piglets weigh 100 or more kilograms. Young growth of the breed is resistant to diseases, although it is recommended to keep it in insulated pigsties in severe frosts.

As a rule, it is not required to additionally heat the pigsties, but in severe frosts, heating may be required.
