French biathletes have always competed with the world's leading athletes. Literally in every race, spectators can watch the struggle for medals with the participation of athletes from this country. The French team owes many of its medals to the titled Marie-Laure Brunet, which will be discussed below.
Carier start
The famous athlete was born in Lannemezan on 11/20/1988. Parents raised their daughter from childhood as a future athlete. They spent a lot of time on her physical preparation, becoming the first mentors of the girl.
A professional career at the junior level began with Marie-Laure Brunet at the age of 14. The first training base on which the athlete was engaged was the Training Center in the Alps. Alpine slopes, difficult trails and elevations allowed the racer to gain the necessary endurance and ability to cope with difficult sections of the distance for the professional biathlete.
Her mentor for three years was the eminent Thierry Dyuerr, who is currently the head coach of the women's biathlon team in France. This specialist also worked with Simon Fourcade, a member of the men's team.
High performance in the training process, successful performances at various qualifying competitions allowed Brune to be accepted into the national junior team. Her debut at the World Championships among young athletes took place in 2006, where the racer won two awards of the highest standard - in the pursuit and relay race.
Achievements
Since 2008, the biathlete began performing in the top division. In the same season, she won her first βadultβ medal at the world cup stage - bronze in the relay. The following year, Marie-Laure Brunet again showed that she was an indispensable team fighter: it was largely thanks to her efforts that the French national team won gold and bronze awards.
Perhaps the 2011/2012 season was the most successful for the biathlete. In addition to two silver relay races at the World Cup in Khanty-Mansiysk and Ruhpolding, the athlete showed high results in personal races. She climbed to the second step of the podium in the mass start, individual race, and also won the bronze medal in the mixed relay.
The athlete really loves biathlon. Marie-Lor Brunet is constantly improving himself. Due to this, she as part of her national team won gold at the world cup stage in Anterselva.
The biathlete twice won Olympic medals at the Vancouver Games in 2010. She became the third in the pursuit, and together with the relay squad she took second place.
Statistics
In the first year of her professional performances, the racer twice climbed the third step of the podium and three times took fourth place in the cup stages. In general, the results cannot be called outstanding. The athlete most often finished in the top thirty.
The following year was much more successful for the girl. According to the results of the World Cup, biathlete Marie-Lore Brunet took 16th place. Three bronzes (two relay races, a pursuit race), two silver (relay races) and gold in a mixed relay allowed to rise so high in the overall classification.
Six podiums in the 2009/2010 season ensured the girl a place in the top ten strongest in the overall World Cup standings.
The athlete missed the next competitive year. During this time, she gained form and approached the 2011/2012 season in very good condition. In Ruhpolding, the biathlete won silver medals in all races, and also helped her team win the relay in Anterselva and receive silver in the same discipline in the Latvian Hochfilzen.
The athlete spent the next competition cycle not so successfully. Two podiums in relay races and one in personal failed to compensate for the missing three stages of the world cup, as well as unsuccessful performances in the middle of the season.
Retirement
Marie-Lor Bruyne ended her career in 2014, after the Sochi Olympics. During the relay race, the girl became ill, she lost consciousness.
The athlete noted that she had long planned to finish her performance in professional sports, and deterioration in her health confirmed the correctness of the decision.
Many media outlets, however, claim that the biathlete resumed training and plans to perform again in big sports.
